Stream Four Unreleased Beck Songs

No, not Guerolito cuts. OTHER songs. They're streaming at beck.com. (Just let them play from the boombox in the top right of his site; mouseover to skip tracks.)

1. "Untitled 2"
2. "Day For Night"
3. "Sorrow"
4. "Premonition"
The first track sounds a little Beta Band-esque. It's quite fun and really deserves a title. Maybe we'll make one up by the time we track down the MP3 for you. Though it might be a while as the flash satellite dish won't shut the fuck up.

the flash sattelite bugged the hell out of me too. you can turn the fx sounds off though in that little menu. just click the speaker. cool songs though. beck has some great b-sides. i wish he would release some of them formally.

I wonder of they are b-sides or new album tracks. Beck did say recently that he admired the White Stripes for releasing their album really quickly. Also, if you download the new non- Sea Change desktop background, it has 'new era' faintly smeared on the bottom right hand corner of the word Beck.

the songs are a great feature of the new site. thank goodness they offer that button to mute the fx. but i find that it doesn't hold as well as it should--it gets undone various ways, e.g., by turning the audio player on and off and by going to other pages. why do they need to have so much sound going on, anyway? i just wanna hear the music.

I admit it: The first time through, I thought that squeak-squeak satellite noise was part of the song. And I thought it was weird and cool.

But, yeah...overall the new site is way to flashy and noisy.

Beck needs to release these!! I find myself just leaving the site up to hear the music. Untitled song 2 is a work of art and needs to be released!! We can only hope that this is part of the new album!!

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
