Stream Sigur Rós's Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

thumbnail icon: Stream Sigur Rós's Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

In their great beneficence, the Icelandic gods of "Festival" and "Gobbledigook" have made the entirety of Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust available for legal streaming. Midway through my first listen, it seems like Jonsi & Co. wisely set out the aural outliers from the album via the aforementioned advance listens, with the rest of Með falling between the radical shift of The Naked Song and the reverent Rós-isms of "Festival." But that's a half-listen verdict. Hear for yourself. Just pull up some tissues in time for "ára bátur."

með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly) is out 6/23 worldwide and 6/24 in North America via XL. Preorder the album here.

amrit,

thank you for getting this post up. as a longtime sigur ros fan, i was a bit skeptical after listening to the widget 48kbp version but theres a pretty damn good 128kpb out there. the second, fourth and fifth songs are incredible. cant wait for the show next monday and hopefully i can get tickets for moma

Not my favorite Sigur Ros album, prematurely speaking. It's too slow, too drawn out, too heart-stringing. I was excited, too, because I really had higher hopes with The Naked Song, but the rest of the album is just sappy balladry in shorter, watered-down form compared to their other albums. At least Takk packed more punch...

these guys came to Guadalajara, and WOW, just WHOA, insane performance, but I bet you already knew that.

It's not quite the dynamic leap forward signaled by "Gobbledigook", but it's certainly one of the standout albums of the year and a landmark in the band's career. This new record is the product of a band fully in control of everything that makes them unique, experimenting with rearranging those elements in new ways. It's not a bold grab for mainstream success, but it isn't just treading water either. And if nothing else, the new album reminded me of music's power to emotionally affect me on the most simple and undeniable level. That piano melody that opens "All Alright" almost brought me to tears. I only wish the mind-blowing climax of "Ara batur" were drawn out just a little bit longer...it's unbelievable.

"Inní mér syngur vitleysingur" should / could be a Wolf Parade song. I like[s].

The previously mentioned 128 kbps stream is last.fm:

Far more pleasing to listen to than the Sigur Rós embedded player version.

Agreed, the first song sounds like Grey Street/Tripping Billies. ISo far so good though.
