Stream The Elizabethtown Soundtrack

Alt-country fans will dig this comp, which includes new tunes from Tom Petty (nice mandolin, man), MMJ (they're in the movie) and Lindsey Buckingham (I think his first studio track in 13 years).

The flick may be receiving underwhelming buzz, but C. Cro's come through with an A+ (okay, B+) soundtrack. Even wife Nancy's Town Theme is sweet. And again Cameron's dusted off classic Elton to remind us the Vegas showman wasn't always a sappy diva.

One gripe: the syrupy 2003 mix of Wheat's "Don't I Hold You" instead of the superior version off Hope and Adams.

Elizabethtown OST

Wow, I disagree completely, it's been all downhill for her since "Bring It On." She has horrible Cameron Diaz-level skin.

actually the soundtrack fits the movie really well. Multiple times during the movie I stopped and thought, "wow this was a really good song choice."

Cameron asked Ryan Adams to write a song for the soundtrack and he ended up submitting 18 tracks,
"Come Pick me up" is from his Heartbreaker album and there is a song included in the movie but not the soundtrack titled "Words"

Isn't it a little weird that the soundtrack is coming out weeks before the movie? I'm surprised that they didn't include the My Morning Jacket cover of "Free Bird" that was in the extended edition screened on Saturday at CMJ.

also: I thought the movie was pretty decent as long as you're willing to think of it as a super sentimental fairy tale mixtape.

Come Pick Me Up is a great choice... it is by far Ryan Adams' best song ever.

The first Petty track, the one with the mandolin, is from '87 or so. On the Let Me Up (I've Had Enough) lp.

I've seen the film twice now and -- granted I'm a sucker for this sorta' thing -- it's great. The courage it takes to make art from the place Cameron does is, well, inspirational. It may not sell on the coasts, but I think they'll dig it in the center. I hope so, at least. He's a good man, and deserves great success. Plus he's my male crush. Check it:

so glad to see patty griffin on the soundtrack. i think she's in the movie, too. she's been making gorgeous music for a long time...mix of folk/gospel/americana styles (though she had a much grittier sound on flaming red, a departure into more rock sounds).

the woman can sing anything, and she'll break your heart. if you've never heard her, start from living with ghosts and listen to everything. hell, i'm going to go put her on right now.

I love Ryan Adams. Saw Cameron Crowe at his show at the Fonda in LA a couple of months back.

And that bib is just retarded.

I echo Julie's comments. Patty Griffin is out of this muthafuckin' world. Check out "1000 Kisses," which is where "Long Ride Home" came from.

BTW, that Buckingham song sounds like an unreleased song from the archives to me. I don't think it's new - his voice doesn't have that quality to it anymore.
