When a company spends this much time and effort to keep an album under wraps, it's obvious there's something to hide.

I posted a stream on Scenestars that does not require you to sign up. Of course, you'll have to scroll thru my diatribe to get to it...

Hell yeh, EJ has my back.

Gummer, I got the new Coldplay, let me know if you want it posted,(wedded bliss has definitly affected their sound) and have Bullette's new one (available free at her site also), it is buzz worthy, much more so than Coldplay! Need my Britney fix!!!! A photo of her pregos with a cig would be wonderful.....

EJ: I haven't heard the record yet -- because it doesn't come out until next week -- but a major label keeping a tight reign and not wanting one of their higher profile releases to get leaked all over the internets doesn't strike me as suspicious at all. Capital did the same exact thing with the last couple of Radiohead releases. It's a matter of protecting their bottom line to the best of their abilities.

Yes, props to EJ! Check out Scenestars for an ez-stream.

Sounds like Coldplay's version of a U2 record. I kinda dig it. I won't turn it when a song comes on the radio or whatnot, but I doubt I'll ever listen to it on purpose, if you know what I mean. It's not as good as "Rush of Blood..."
Score = 0
You can also get it on mtvasia.com without any registration BS but I don't think they have the stream the whole album option. Not that that's a bad thing, my first impresstion is that it's kinda weak, and I liked the first two. But if you liked the leak of "Talk" it's worth checking out the new version.

The studio mix of "Fix You" is 1000% better than all the live/O.C. versions I've heard so far. Classic.

Did you see Blender gave X&Y five stars? I mean, they're not the best judge of... anything... but that's still rather glowing.

If only I was a 30-something soccer-mom wishing I was a hipster and in my twenties again, I'd probobly love this album!
Nah, but seriously, its not bad.
Score = 0
Here it is, check it out all thirteen tracks, no registration, even the album art. (EJ the record company isn't doing its job is it?) If you like it buy it, we wouldn't want Mr. Martins baby to starve would we? (Blender gave it 5 stars, duh! who buys advertising in Blender?)

The only thing about it I can say is that it sounds like a record by Coldplay. Which is probably the worst insult I can think of.
Score = 0
Oh wait but I did like the track titled, "I Get to Have Sex With Gwyneth Paltrow and You Don't, Ha Ha Ha Suckaz"
Score = 0
there's two, very different, studio versions of "Talk" out there.
which one is the better?
Score = 0
I have to say I really like the track White Shadows... good stuff... this album will probably grow on me like Rush of Blood did, I didn't care for that one at first either...
Score = 0
if you like your albums bland with a side of innane lyrics; you'll love this one.
they've effectively gone light rock on this one. Watch out Phil Collins and Sting; there's competition afoot.

It' fabulous. Definately Coldplay's best work to date.

Dude there new album is insane. I love it. I'm happy i pre ordered on itunes and got the two exclusive tracks when it is released.
Score = 0
It's a great Coldplay album, but defintely not their best album to date. I love Square One, Talk, and the end of Fix You. The rest seems to effortlessly blend together forming one song. Coldplay has the music they make down to a science. This may be good or bad.
Score = 0
I think the U2 comparison just about nailed it...

I'm going to miss hearing "CAL!!!!!!!!!" and breaking glass during 'Fix You'

Wow, that's some boring ass music right there.
Coldplay...most overrated band of the past 10 years.
Score = 0
It's incredible to note the direct relationship between a band's media coverage/level of mass appeal and the backlash by the "hipster" community. Seems to say, "The more the public awaits your next album, the more criticism you will face." Oddly enough, it's very hateful criticism.
Let's be straight. X&Y is a great album - on its own merits and as a sequence in the Coldplay catalogue. The band stretches to places they've previously left untouched. The music maintains the level of sincere emotion we've come to expect from the band while turning up the guitars and really rocking out.
We've slipped into this bad habit of wanting to categorize everything. Perhaps it simplifies our thought process? Sure seems to. How many of you keep a running "Best of..." list in your mind and make additions or deletions every Tuesday?
Why not simply appreciate the music for the music's sake? Chris Martin and co. spent over 18 months writing and recording this album. And several wannabe "cool kids" (as we called them in high school) have demolished it in five minutes, probably without even listening to it.
If you don't like it, don't listen. Go listen to the "It" band of the moment. I'm sure Maximo Park will appreciate your support. (No offense to Maximo Park.)

This is a boring record. Can we start talking about the new Foo Fighters instead? Oy.

This album fucking sucks.

new oasis is a far superior record in all aspects.

Spencer-I like the non-album version of "Talk" better (it's the first track that plays on the Scenestars stream.) I think the drums sound better.
I am not a huge Coldplay fan, but I do like the new album, and think they are far better than any of the other radio-friendly bands out there.
Score = 0
The U2 analogy has been used since Coldplay's first album. I don't give a shit if elitist snobs say that Coldplay is boring, or that they've sold out. It's getting old.
Score = 0
I couldn't agree more with Rochinho. Is it so hard in this media soaked generation to separate the personality from the music? If you don't like the music, fair enough! However, if you don't like it because Coldplay are 'too mainstream' now, or Chris Martin married an A list actress.Get a life!!
They have moved on as a group and their sound has grown.Don't diss them just because they don't relish being 'alternative'!!
Score = 0
To all the bashers.. go listen to your 1 hit wonders and see where they are in 10 years...
I know i'll still be cranking the "play" when im 50 yrs old!

I personally love this album, and think it's their best yet.

Welcome to the post Grunge era, guys.
The Industry has lost millions with mp3 and they no longer support rock bands, they just want fresh cash from teenies and yuppies.
Forget about a new Guns and Roses or Metallica these days.
American FM is something hard to sell overseas,
and we had enough Oasis in the past 10 years.
Coldplay has many good songs, the guy can sing , their music is simple , they don´t sound as good live but hey the lead singer has married a Hollywood celebrity , something they love in London and L.A.
Coldplay has always been U2esque, ´Moses´ sounds like a U2 track , the same arrangements,
this new album is OK, mellow, the corporate middle age guy would love it , U2 is present again, we even have a Johnlennon tune with ´A message´
( just like Oasis, they don´t care to rip off )
We can´t blame Coldplay , they hopped up the train, now something terrible is happening in America..... we´ve had enough britons for the past 10 years...seems hard to believe americans can only produce pop icons
