I'm actually really liking the album. There are a few ballads that don't quite work, but it's a pretty strong album overall.

"Fade Together" blatently rips off the turtles' "Happy Together"

I'm a bit torn as to the rest of the album, but I've been quite enamoured with "The Fallen" for awhile now, I love that song.

I am not as into the upbeat tracks on this...but I do like the acoustic ones...y'know...the ones that sound just like Kinks/Beatles/Turles? ;)

But they really are pretty...even if they do rip.

Target has the album for $9.99. Insound is ridiculously overpriced, as usual.

it's candy like the first album but tongues get tired of candy after awhile as do ears for this sort of thing. funny how these guys' story in 04-05 is so similar to the strokes in 01-02, breaking out somewhat forgotten sounds into the mainstream on a debut that feels like fresh air, getting lots of popularity and backlash, putting out a second that's a rehash of the first but no sophomore slump, getting good (but not as good) press and praise, not as bad backlash and lots of internet discussion.

Is it possible to have a backlash against the backlash? You guys are so predictable.

this record sound good as...how you say...like my toilet flush? yes, like the poo going down toilet into bowels of city and then a bus run over my dog.

I could have it so much better without the elitist indie rock snobbery.

Personally, I enjoyed the first FF album quite a bit, as I found it to be very well produced, and fresh sounding, yet at the same time, a throwback to a past era of rock and roll that was begging to be rediscovered. The new album is pretty good too, but since you are all a bunch of idiot hipsters, concerned only about what others think of your obscure music tastes, and who immediately turn on albums that sell over 100k copies (Arcade Fire anyone?), I guess it will fall on deaf ears, won't it?

Good post Randy. Nailed it in the head with the arcade fire reference.
