Stream The New Neil Diamond
Newsweek calls 12 Songs (out 11/8) the best Neil Diamond album in 30 years. It was produced by Rick Rubin, whose magic touch resurrected Johnny Cash's career in the mid '90s.
Rubin told Rolling Stone in September:
Most of the songs were recorded with Neil playing and singing at the same time, and it's a different animal. It's taking him back to being more of a singer-songwriter. He really blows me away.Columbia's betting that Rubin's approach can make the legendary songwriter palatable to the blogger set: the whole album can be streamed at MySpace where Neil Diamond has 9988 friends.

The new Neil Diamond album really is good. Being subjected to Neil Diamond all my life by my parents, I'd sworn him off once I got into music myself. But giving this new album a chance with all the good words its recieving, I was plesantly surprised. Definately give this one a listen.

Having just experienced Super Diamond open for Spoon in Memphis, I'm primed for a little Neil Diamond. When Super Diamond came on, most people were pretty skeptical (and since it was one of those Camel cigarette "Pleasure Lounge" shows, it was already just weird as shit), but by the time they tore through "Forever in Blue Jeans" everybody in the crowd was smiling. Wonder if they'll incorporate any of the new stuff...

Another Rick Rubin album! How Great! This is actually the 21st album this year he's done--not that he's done anything memorable since BloodSugarSexMagic. I'm not even saying I don't have a few albums he's produced but c'mon! Weezer's new album is a joke. Please stop praising this guy.

Hells yes. Super Diamond in Memphis was the greats. When they tacked on the Sweet Child O Mine riff at the end of Sweet Caroline, I lost all bowel control. Impressive!

Actually Rick's run with Johnny Cash is pretty amazing, if not highly memorable. I got an advance copy of this Neil Diamond disc, and it is also very good.
