Surf's Up: New Brian Wilson Interviews

Rock's most enigmatic figure reluctantly speaks about his soon-to-be-released masterpiece. Newsweek explains, "Imagine that Sgt. Pepper hadn't come out but remained only a rumor -- that's the story of Smile."

Hey Scott:

Have you checked out Jim Derogatis' new book Kill Your Idols? Basically, it's Gen X & Y music writers who take another (read:negative) look at some of rocks "classic" albums. The reason I bring it up is the first couple reviews are about Sgt Pepper, Pet Sounds and Smile.

It's a good read.

I'll check it out. There's a column like that in Uncut every month and it always makes me angry.

that new york times piece is one of the weirdest interviews I've read.

Are you dying?
no.

What's with that?

The NYT interview made me feel like I was taking crazy pills. "I hear voices in my head still, but not as loud as before". Yeah, okay.
