SXSW: Picks For Friday

Another day, another guide. Today's when the parties really start hitting, so let's point the way to a couple worth your while. The Pitchforkmedia.com kids have assembled the lineup of the day, aggregating the bands we managed to miss while waiting for Amy Winehouse to take the stage three hours late last night. The 'forkers are taking over Emo's with the likes of Girl Talk, Menomena, RJD2, The Pipettes, Do Make Say Think, Deerhunter, Simian Mobile Disco, Fujiya + Miyagi, Beach House, Marnie Stern, and Crystal Castles. Today's also your chance to catch Dappled Cities (12:15PM) during Filter's party at Cedar Street, or make your way to the Vice Saves Texas party to see Turbonegro, sublime Japanese rockers BORIS, Deerhunter, Chromeo, and Bonde Do Role. While Vice is saving Texas, Dacid Cross is fucking with it at the Mess With Texas party, with Les Savy Fav, The Black Angels, The Gossip, Erase Errata, David Vandervelde, Matt & Kim, Bob Odenkirk, Eurgene Mirman, and Zach Galifianakis. That's a mouthful.

But before we break down tonight's showcase schedule, just wanted to point the way to some Austin after hours options -- for the lot of you we've met desperately seeking post-2AM libations. The Purevolume Indoors (E. 2nd & Trinity) will welcome you until 4AM, as will the Blender After Hours House Party (w/ Albert Hammond, Jr. and The Fratellis (319 Congress Ave.). But if 4AM is still too early, hit the iheartcomix party at 916 Springdale Rd. You'll be there 'til 5AM and hate yourself all day Saturday. On to tonight's showcases...

I'm betting that YACHT, Castanets, Marnie Stern, Panther, Mae Shi, Ecstatic Sunshine show @ The Lucky Lounge will be pretty awesome.
