Ted Leo's Indie Rock Karaoke Playlist

thubmnail icon: Ted Leo's Indie Rock Karaoke Playlist

As mentioned, New York Mag's all set up for the third installment of their too-much-fun Indie Rock Karaoke series: Andrew W.K. as host, with a full set + a karaoke jam by Ted Leo + RX. After losing it to host Michael Showalter alongside Paul Rudd, Craig Wedren, and random audience members singing with of Montreal as their backing band, we thought maybe the event peaked early. We took a pass on the Thermals' go at it. We now think maybe the event didn't peak early after all. Ted Leo knows from covers, and obviously we have love for the recently betrothed Mr. W.K. This should be fun.

The show's at Studio B in Brooklyn on 12/3, doors at 8PM. For $20 you get a ticket and a one-year subscription to New York. Buy 'em at nymag.com/nyxny. (There's a one-hour free vodka bar from 8-9PM, too, but that's can be a shitshow. Hint: order three on the rocks and don't bother trying again.) Not everyday you can sing "Since You Been Gone" with Ted Leo backing you up. But the playlist is limited. Here's Ted's songbook for the night:

OUTFIELD - "Your Love"
PRINCE - "Kiss"
THE WHO - "My Generation"
KELLEY CLARKSON - "Since You Been Gone"
STOOGES - "Search And Destroy"
RAMONES - "Blitzkrieg Bop"
MISFITS - "Where Eagles Dare"
IDOL - "Dancin' With Myself"
AC/DC - "Dirty Deeds"
CURE - "Just Like Heaven"
CLASH - "Rock The Casbah"
BOWIE AND QUEEN - "Under Pressure"
JOY DIVISION - "Transmission"
YEAH YEAH YEAHS - "Maps"
SAINTS - "Stranded"
ARETHA FRANKLIN - "Respect"
BLONDIE - "Dreaming"
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - "Dancin' In The Dark"
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - "Born In The USA"
STIFF LITTLE FINGERS - "Suspect Device"
MINOR THREAT - "Minor Threat"
CREDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL - "Fortunate Son"
AMERIE - "One Thing"
STEELY DAN - "Reelin' in the Years"
SANTOGOLD - "L.E.S. Artistes"
THE KINGSMEN - "Louie Louie"

See you there.

Better be careful the web sheriff isn't at your show Ted, you might be violating copyright infringement by singing unauthorized songs in your Kareoke jam

Apples In Stereo Energize Pepsi Rebranding

As we've mentioned in the past (2007), Robert Schneider's not afraid of the graceful sellout. So, no, we're not surprised that he and his E6 cohorts just scored a Pepsi commercial. (Heck, we already knew how much E6-related bands loved...
