Ten Days, Ten Plagues

Plague Songs, that cool Biblical compilation we told you about, is now in stores in the UK (and in the States 11/21). We sorta gave away the ending by skipping to the death of the firstborn (yeah, we've got issues), but if you're still not sold, check out this calendar, where a different song will be streaming every couple of days.

1. "Blood" - Klashnekoff (The Plague Of Blood)
2. "Relate the Tale" - King Creosote (The Plague Of Frogs)
3. "The Meaning of Lice" - Stephin Merritt (The Plague Of Lice)
4. "Flies" - Brian Eno & Robert Wyatt (The Plague Of Flies)
5. "The Fifth Plague" - Laurie Anderson (The Death Of Livestock)
6. "Boils" - Cody ChesnuTT (The Plague Of Boils)
7. "Hailstones" - The Tiger Lillies (The Plague Of Hail)
8. "Glittering Cloud" - Imogen Heap (The Plague Of Locusts)
9. "Darkness" - Scott Walker (The Plague Of Darkness)
10. "Katonah" - Rufus Wainwright (The Death Of The Firstborn)

Today is blood! We're gonna have the most indie rock seder ever next year.

That Scott Walker song scares the bejeezus out of me - and yet, like a horny teen in a horror movie, I just can't help walking down those dark stairs...

I wish I didn't think this was the coolest shit ever. Oh wait. It IS! It's like a horror movie through song through the BIBLE. How holier-than-thou can you get? But question: When do we get to hear the audio version of the Bible where Samuel L. plays God? I'm pretty sure I didn't just make that up while I was dreaming.

Band To Watch: Threatmantics

Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...
