The Bitch Is The New Black

Cranky old bitch Elton John -- sorry, Sir Elton John -- says American rock bands need to dress more like Mark Bolan. He tells Fashion Rocks Magazine:

"It's been a thing the British have always been very good at, with Bowie, myself, T.Rex, the Who, Queen. ... We all embraced that side of it. .... So when you get groups like The Killers and Scissor Sisters who come along, it's thrilling. I'm so over the tattoos and the T-shirts and rings through the noses. It's not pretty, it's not pleasant, it's not exciting. Please stop it now."
Silly Elton. Imagine if Audioslave dressed like this:

Actually, I take it back. That would be fucking awesome.

Isn't the only thing that Audioslave has going for them is Tom Morello's Angus Young schoolboy outfit homage? I'd say they'd be taking a risk in losing that one thing they have going by incorporating some gold lame and glitter into their collective ensemble.

I back him up on the " I'm so over the tattoos and the T-shirts and rings through the noses." but the duck costume? I don't know about that one. Oh, and thanks, scott for finally getting rid of that banner ad with the chick in the underwear. She was getting stale...Now it's flava flav...hopefully NOT in his underpants

Ha! Of course he has to promote Scissor Sisters at any chance he gets 'coz he collaborated with them for their new album. And has Elton seen how The Killers look lately? Unless he thinks that looking like mountain people can also be considered as paying a tribute to Marc Bolan then we could expect him to take back what he said.

Music is about music and fashion is about fashion.
If they wear it, we're entitled to criticize it. And you're entitled to cry about it.

Music is just about music only if you're ugly and fat.

Do these bands need to start wearing wigs after being bald for twenty five years too? Or is that just Elton?

I think he has a point, although honestly it's basically a matter of personal opinion. I love the glam rock look, and it seems to be catching on pretty well. Plus until lately The Killers had amazing fashion sense. Even now I think they really stand out from the traditional rock star look, so I think Elton would approve.

Did Tina Fey plagiarize you? She just endorsed Hilary Clinton saying "Bitch is the new Black." I thought it was so funny I even made a t-shirt
