The Black Metal Dialogues

If I were in a kick-ass metal group and wanted more publicity, I'd hesitate to e-mail a Norwegian Death Metal band. Ya know, 'cause they're scary cannibals.

Fortunately, Witch Taint's Dave Hill is more intrepid. After listening to his band's "Necrodreamraper" I'm fairly confident his correspondence with Mysticum is a joke. But it's so fucking funny. I'd read the whole thing if I had time.

Thanks Jess for the link (now go back to obsessing about Radar).

What the hell is it with all these references to Norwegian black metal all the sudden? Spin, Blender, and now stereogum?

I guess that doesn't take away from the fact that these vikes fuckin' scare me.

The latest issue of Arthur has pix of Norwegian Death Metal people. The guy who has turned himself into a troll was pretty fucking funny (although don't tell him I said that). Pix at http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&q=mortiis&btnG=Search

norwegian black metal is the new klezmer. you can say you like it, even if you don't know a tsimbl from a cymbal from a symbol. or a shtolper from a warfli from a forsht for that matter.
