The Cure Announce An Emo Friendly Remix EP, Release "The Perfect Boy"
If a Cure covers comp is going too far for you purists, then how about just an EP featuring remixes of all those LP13 pre-release singles? And what if those remixes were executed by, say, 30 Seconds To Mars, Fall Out Boy, and My Chem? And what if I told you I was going to give you info on the project anyway? Here, have fun:
01 "The Only One" (30 Seconds To Mars Remix)
02 "Freakshow" (Jade E. Puget of AFI Remix)
03 "Sleep When I'm Dead" (Gerard Way & Julien-K Remix)
04 "The Perfect Boy" (Pete Wentz & Patrick Stump Remix)
05 "Exploding Head Syndrome" (All 4 Singles Remixed by 65 Days Of Static
On the plus side, royalties will benefit The International Red Cross. They're calling it the Hypnagogic States EP, and it's out 9/16. If you prefer your Cure with less eyeliner (wait that doesn't even work), you can stream a looped snippet of the final installment of the single of the month club, "The Perfect Boy (Mix 13)" at thecure.com. Sounds like it might be the best one yet (based on 20 seconds, granted). Buy it at iTunes.
The Cure's 13th album is out 9/13.

These bands aren't emo, they're the bastardized mall-rock version of emo that don't deserve the tagline. I don't get why sites that are supposedly highly knowledgable about music like Stereogum and Pitchfork go along with it when I am sure they know full well that emo began with bands like Fugazi, Rites of Spring, Mineral, SDRE, Texas Is the Reason, Jejune, etc. Even if this is the 8th wave of emo or whatever, it shouldn't be referred to as that. It's pop punk music at best.

It's actually 65daysofstatic, who are as far as I can see the one (very good) reason to buy this release...
