The Etymology Of Akon

There's a Wiki-feud brewing over the true meaning of Akon's "full" name, and Squidpants has been studying it closely. He writes:

so Akon is apparently pretty funny guy. He's a Senegalese-American rapper who I like, and in interviews he's been saying his name is "Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam." That's long, but not unusual, as some people from Africa have really long names, like Dikembe Mutombo, for example. However, on his Wikipedia page people have been saying that "Damala bouga time" means "I want to fuck you" in Wolof, a language he speaks. So it seems that he's playing a big joke on people, since I'm sure nobody interviewing him speaks Wolof. I like it.
Well if that really is his name, there's no one to blame but his Wolofmother! (rimshot.)

I'm pretty sure his name is really Acorn and we've all fallen for his bad spelling/sounding out practices.

It probably depends on who is asking...ahem, sorry, AKSING him the question.

Either way...are people still amused by profanity in foreign languages?

That's probably the worst pun this site has ever posted.

I laughed.

Akon is short for Senegalese (which is where he's from) for Akonting... or Storytelling as he is a storyteller through song which he is through oral tradition of singing.
