The Hives Lend A Hand To Timbaland, The Raconteurs

April's been a busy month for Swedish garage rockers the Hives, though Howlin' Pelle's recent journal entry offers little info on the band's forthcoming release (date TBD, title rumored to be the humble The World's First Perfect Album.) Instead, Almqvist's screed details the Swedes' April of interesting cameos. First up, their day with Timbaland:

April 19: Shot video for the Timbaland song we are guesting on. It was an unbelievably LA experience. We basically ate catering, stood in front of a green screen, hung out with friendly female wrestling stars who showed us a few moves and managed to keep it Hives through the day. All of this at Universal studios.
And two days later...
April 21: Had breakfast with Jack White. Recorded footsteps for the new Raconteurs album. Those are some great guys.
Billboard reported that the Raconteurs are working on the next record in Nashville (with Jack producing again) but made no mention of this little guest slot. Also, unlike the friendly female wrestling stars, it appears Jack White did not manage to "keep it Hives" through the day. What a dick, right?

I love Pelle. Can't wait for their new album, it's been a while.

Must be rough. But I do love Swedish bands, especially the indies. If any of you like Swedish bands too, you can check out my blog; I've got a couple on there (The Confusions, Sabrosa, and the Irish band The Revs, which one of my readers thoughtfully introduced me to.) http://homemademusicvideos.blogspot.com/2007_04_15_archive.html

I hope the link works. I can't seem to make it link every time I want it to, so I apologize if you have to do a cut and paste. Enjoy!

The Hives kick so much ass and are progressively getting better at it. I know they'll be some people around here who dislike them or think they're 'uncool' for stereogum but they put on the best show I've ever been too (and I'm a seasoned concert goer)...so much fuckin energy! White and Pelle working together is as strange as it is orgasmic...

I for one, don't mind Hives-sentric posts. I can't wait to hear their new stuff.

Here's a live vid of one of their new songs:

It's alright but they can do better, guitar riff is cool though.

I love the Hives, have seen 'em twice on the last two tours, own the Brussels DVD and I really enjoy their over the top 'best band' attitude. But I do hope that there is a bit of a change in their live show next time.

"i know you want us to play more...but that's all the time we have, so you can turn it off now!"--howlin' pelle at the MTV VMA's a few years ago.

yeah, the Hives are so fucking badass.

I concur, their "we're the best" attitude is infectious at a live show (makes you wanna jump up and clap your hands!)... but let's add that it's, well, entertainingly hilarious too! It reminds me of that scene in Elf (yes, I love "high" art films) where Will Ferrell burst into the "world's best" coffee shop and congratulated everyone....
