there's really no reason for apology. i find this whole thing facinating, and even though i should hate the fact that this is eventually going to result in money for a film studio, i must give whoever came up with the idea kudos for it.

of course, i would be facinated by any girl who looks like that regardless of the circumstances.

i was wondering if you saw this.i read it on the way to work this morning.

i know it's wikipedia and information on there is sketchy at best, but according to the first part, there was an admission on the forum on her website of the whole thing being fake.

but the link to the forum is broken. hm.

"On September 8th 2006 the creators of Lonelygirl15 admitted it was a fake, on Lonelygirl15.com saying (in part):

the biggest mystery of Lonelygirl15 is "who is she?" We think this is an oversimplification. Lonelygirl15 is a reflection of everyone. She is no more real or fictitious than the portions of our personalities that we choose to show (or hide) when we interact with the people around us."

Wow, that whole explanation from the creators sounds pretty retarded and skirts any point their audience could have been looking for.

You know what? [Care Bears] are no more real or fictitious than the portions of our personalities that we choose to show (or hide) when we interact with the people around us.

one of the working titles for brian flemming's next movie "Danielle" was "The Beast". Daniel's myspace is www.myspace.com/Danielbeast

hmm. Danielle, Daniel, same dif.

it's obviously that guy.

this whole thing has this certain creepiness to it that's so awesome.

I thought the beast thing was another Aleister Crowley reference...

...and that "Danielle" movie is about a girl who discovers proof that jesus christ did not exist....

i wouldn't mind seeing that girl in a full length fucked up anti-christian movie. it'd be a fun ride.

funny...the Brian Flemming weblog gets all up in arms about the whole phenomenon. i don't know that i buy his point that he'd be throwing his career away by making all these goofy short films for a marketing campaign.

there's also a link to a william gibson book from 2004 about using online videos as easy marketing.

yeah, he also repeats over and over again that while it is paint-by-numbers, whoever made these videos and came up with the idea is brilliant and genius, etc. i think he just means himself. he realized he screwed up with a couple more recent videos and points it out himself to try to cover his tracks.

brian flemming has a career?? i saw his religion-debunking documentary, and it was pretty good until he inserts himself into it.

the guy's obviously an egomaniac, so its very possible that he's praising himself.

yeah, uh, i guess not "career" as perhaps "potential career." anyway, screw it. furthermore, the Blair Witch materials were way cooler.

here is an article that seems to contain the entire message from the creators

yep, it's at that NY times link. and also at my blog: milowent.blogspot.com

the 3 main people behind the outing were aware of everything that was posted about lg15, including the annabanana false lead in the comments to scott's first blog about LG15.

if you really want to kill yourself reading about lg15 in depth: http://alissabrooke.proboards56.com/

damnit. that's the nail in the coffin. it's not going to be fun to wait for each video anymore. there was an occult overtone and everything, they could have taken this really far.

So?

I know it's fake, it doesn't matter to me...I just wanna know about this party that Daniel's taking her to.

And don't apologize, I love these posts. It's your blog, say what you will.

it's one thing to know it's fake, it's another thing to know that they know that we know it's fake. (god i hate that sentence.) and to admit it openly to us. ruins it, ruins any of the speculation or surprise involved.

this is one of the most brilliant compelling uses of the internet in all of human history. yes its fake but also more than easy to suspend your disbelief when watching it. the layers of dread that keep piling on are giving me a permanent suspense-boner

the creators of it are giving themselves too much credit. people watch it because bree is so cute and energetic and just fun to watch, who gives a shit what she's saying, i'll buy it.

It's only ruined if you let it be ruined. Some of you have no imagination and attention span. It's quite sad.

I haven't followed any of this, but it's a real interesting twist on web entertainment. They clearly did a good job finding "actors" that can't act to add a reality to the videos. It helps to deal with the terrible jump cuts and quick takes.

What I don't like is how they've taken Aleister Crowley and moved him back into the occult. Read the Book of Law and you'll find that it's nothing more than Crowley telling everyone to do what they want in life as long as it serves the common good. Crowley may have been nuts, but he wasn't some witchcraft obsessed devil worshipper.

Of course, guys like L.Ron Hubbard came along and twisted Crowley's words into sick and twisted forms of "religion" and mysticism.

I think Virginia Heffernan from the NY Times screen blog is right when she says this guy has something to do with it:

I thought she always seemed to have gone to the Hillary Duff school of acting, exagerated facial expressions and big eyes to make any point.
I think Daniel should kill her and fuck her corpse up the ass.

Another Times article:

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-lonelygirl9sep09,0,5768755.story?coll=la-headlines-entnews

But now I'm just wondering ... how have the actors playing Bree and Daniel not been identified yet? You'd think as this point a friend/acquaintance/someone-who-met-one-of-them would come forward and say, "Oh, I went to high school with that guy 'Daniel'" or something.

re: j

the ad at the end of the video is part of the video hosting.. its that new service that puts ads at the end and generates revenue for whoever posted the video.

still think it's totally fake though.

Yeah, I noticed that ad thing to. One of the ads was for a new video-editing site, which I thought would be the PERFECT explanation for who's behind this "show."

Thanks Laura. Now I have even more questions.

Incidentally, TMZ.com says they know who's behind it.

"But the story that's been told so far isn't the real deal -- and TMZ knows it. Normally we tell you everything -- but because of source confidentiality we can't this time. It's a much more intriguing and hilarious tale than anyone knows. When we can, we'll spill it."

I heard about this ages ago, and couldn't make it through any of the whole videos. How is it creepy? Did I not give the storyline enough of a chance or listen? It just sounded like a girl ranting on about nothing, or how she misses and likes her boyfriend?

^^ Along with speculations of them not being genuine, there's been a whole religious subplot through the whole thing. She has a picture of Aleister Crowley, an occultist, on her bedroom wall, and there's been lots of other things--"clues", maybe. People have been trying to figure out what her faith is because it's never fully revealed...wow, I'm totally reading into this. I need a life. :(

I read that article ealier. This whole thing is pretty amazing. I can't believe that this has gone on for so long and still no one has definite answers. I can't wait for the reveal of whatever this is setting up.

Has anyone seen her latest going to the party video? She'll probably come home covered in pig's blood or something.

It's creepy because it's possibly fake? And chaos magick is basically masturbating to sigils (no joke), give it a try someday. Nothing scary about it.

The scariest thing about the video is that 6 inch gap between her eyebrows - that and the annoying acting was the reason why I couldn't make it through a single video of hers.

Now excuse me while I draw up some sigils and look for some other jailbait videos on youtube.
