The Winehouse story I can definitely see (she has 'wine' in her last name, for god's sake), but a 50ft Michael Jacksonbot? I dunno. The whole "stalked the desert shooting laser beams" part was a big "Aw come ooon!"

Amy's name is Winehouse and she's a stumbling drunk. Didn't the name at least give her a clue. And wasn't Jacko near bankruptcy a few months ago, now he's building automated, noseless, albino idols to himself? Where did the cash come from? Did he yank some little kid's one-arm bandit and get a windfall out the aft?

Sheesh. The world at large makes me more normal by the hour!

I'd like to state that Amy Winehouse is a phenomenal talent and she may be overexposed right now, but that doesn't change the facts: she is an incredible singer and a fantastic songwriter with great taste in producers. Please don't compare her to Corrine Bailey Rae; she has more soul in her pinky finger than Corrine has in her whole multi-Grammy-nominated body. And while I'm at it, Pitchfork, hipster tastemaker/backlash grumbling-creator that it is, gave it a review with nary a negative comment and then gave it a 6.4?! And gave Lily Allen's pleasant but far inferior record a 8.3?? Get with it, people!! Amy is the real deal. She may not ape Talking Heads or drop literary references, but she is as cool and talented as they come these days.
