The Pigeons Of Shit Metal Vs. Axl Rose

Opening for Axl is a promising platform for a band prominently featuring distored guitars, give or take a riot or two. But when Eagles Of Death Metal took the stage after Axl-apologist Sebastian Bach, for the first of what was to be three weeks of shows, the audience responded with, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer pop critic, "not deafening boos, but lots of grumbling and grousing and ... indifference." And as you know Axl is forever in tune with his audiences wants, needs, and desires. So when he hit the stage, he hit EODM with this lambasting:

So how'd you like the PIGEONS OF SHIT METAL? Don't worry, that's the last show they're playing with us.
But aside from penning some of the finest over-the-top cock rock in years, we love EODM 'cause they're the last to take things too seriously. Case in point: Their response to Axl. (via Blabbermouth)
At first the audience refused to welcome us to the jungle, but by the time we took our final bow, it had become paradise city. Although Axl tried to November rain on our parade, no sweet child o' mine can derail the EODM night train. We say live and let die.
Meanwhile, the Tuesdays With Rosey countdown continues. It ain't out today, which means only four left in 2007! And we really doubt it'll come out on the Tuesday after Xmas. Or before.

After 15 years of waiting for a GN'R album, every time they say "It's coming this time, really..." it gets a little funnier. Like Sideshow Bob stepping on a rake over and over and over...

axl is a washed-up idiot. i would much rather listen to EODM rock my face off than whatever new crap it's taken him the past 15 years to "perfect."

I'd say it's a safe guess that most GNR fans have not listened to anything new since the last GNR album, thus they probably would have booed any band that played that wasn't from 1987.

I saw EODM with the Strokes. EODM put on a far better show that the Strokes did, imho, plus they are hilarious. GNR is hilarious, but not intentionally.

Dude, I *almost* considered buying a ticket to see Guns n Roses when I found out EODM were opening. They are completely hot live.

EODM is great because they're really average guys playing rock music.

Axl's probably pissed that all the groupies were flocking to Jesse instead of his botoxed assface.

I want to see Josh Homme punch Axl in the face. Many, many times. I imagine it would get funnier every time as well.

I was at this show. EoDM impressed me and I'm going to pick up their album because of this show. They weren't bad at all, it was the crowd. They were drunk and hungry for some GNR. Why does Axl insist on coming on state at midnight? The show didn't end until 2:15AM. No big deal, but my ticket said 8:00pm. I could have been doing a lot of other things for 4 straight hours...

GNR rocked my ass off though, for the record. Axl was having problems with his microphone the whole night, but the band was tight. Good show.

when axl rose offends your group like that it means that eodm really suck big time. I must admit that ultimately eodm should change their name to Pigeons of Shit Metal. It really suits them coz they are as cool as a fat balding corporate slug driving a fiat punto. And their music is so bad that it makes you cry. But not the way that angie of rolling stones or sailing of rod steward make you cry, but in the way a knife up your ass makes you cry. Forget eodm-now it's posm.

Everyone got their own opinion - but EODM are f*cking excellent. Saw them live last night - the reception they got was spectacular. Jesse was so taken aback! Guess he will be after his short tour with GnR. He knows he has his hardcore genuine fans in England!

What a fucking goose Axl is! Last time that half wit had something to say about another band it started a riot. ( Metallica/GNR Tour ) You would think cars on fire and 50 000 fans wanting his blood would be enough reasons to shut his mouth. Someone mentioned they seen GNR but axl was having problems with his microphone, its not the equipment - the idiot just cant sing. We seen GNR on tour with Skid Row & Rose Tattoo, it was a good gig until Axl came on stage were it quickly turned to shit, sounded like someone stepped on a cat. Only the talented die young, that is why Axl will be alive for many years yet.

Pigeons of Shit Metal should be proud. They got knighted by Axl Rose! It's an excellent name for their band and their music for they ARE pigeons that play shit metal. Those clowns are not worthy to lick Axl's boots, let alone open for him.

Jesus! GnR fans drank the freaking Kool-Aid! I’ve never seen such a list of excuses and pathetic rationalizations for someone who was moderately talented in Screaming 101, Slurring 102, and Assh*le 101 and 102. Now that’s my opinion and I’ll never convince you I’m right.

Your opinion is that Axl and GnR rule and you will never change your opinion. Music is subjective, meaning it’s good IF someone likes it. It may be technically great, but for most it is how the song makes them feel.

GnR and Axl make me feel like hurling. They are full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
