The Shins On 'Gilmore Girls'

Dennis and I agree that good music can always be found on The WB. This season of Gilmore Girls has featured tunes from The Pernice Brothers, The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, Radio 4, and other bands that live on my iPod.

On tonight's episode...
"Rory and Paris go wild during spring break in Florida where they take in sun, sand, too much partying and a performance by The Shins."

This site used to host every song used in the show in MP3 format. Guess they took it down.

Anyway, the Shins are great. I'm not just saying that 'cause James Mercer complemented my Huey Lewis & The News t-shirt backstage at the Siren Festival two years ago.

Wow. Some great music is played on this show. I'm still not gonna watch it though.

Hey, where's those nifty XTC mp3's?

I have a Huey Lewis t-shirt that has had me close to getting beat up on numerous occassions. Can I help that I find a deep, throaty voice completely intoxicating?

i was just about to write that, yvette, haha. all in all, the episode's music was awesome. i'm glad that they spent a good portion on showing the shins play basically a whole song.

Gilmore girls has always had such great musical refs... I mean, shit, a mainstream show that mentions "The Damned" its almost as good as Dawson's when indy musician says goodbye to hottie blonde with, "It's been slanted and enchanted, babe..." Shame about the MP3s, I guess I can't complain though, since Scott's Azure Ray vs. Postal Service MP3 has made my month...

This show could have been a grandslam of a hit with the Shins and that lesbian kiss, too bad the lesbian kiss was horrible. I was expecting so much more!

Hi, the New Pornographers song played after the Shins performance is 'The Laws Have Changed' included in their 2003 album 'Electric Version'. Great music in this show.

The song that the shins played when Rory and Paris went on spring break was called "So Says I" but it sounds much better live.
