The Smashing Pumpkins Line Up 20th Anniversary Tour The Gish tour is moving to '09, the August shows will be small and loose, and the November SP20 shows will be a Big Deal. Says Billy: "The August tour is going to be a blast... Expect a very loud and raucous show from us...and we are very, very happy to know we will finally be playing our own shows come November in New York, L.A., and Chicago... The 20th Anniversary shows will be magical... We are already working on lots of surprises." More at smashingpumpkins.com.

Maybe one surprise will be having more than half the original lineup playing?

what does "know we will finally be playing our own shows come November"
have they NOT been playing their own shows? I mean... they did tour zeitgeist
or was that some sort of clone/lookalike band...?

I saw the current edition of the band on the Zeitgeist tour, and yes I was mighty impressed when they played stuff from Gish and Siamese Dream (and even Mellon Collie). I was much less impressed with the recent material. So, even if this is a cash grab playing on people's nostalgia, it could still make for some profoundly excellent concerts.

"have they NOT been playing their own shows?"

A lot of the shows they played on the Zeitgeist tour were of music festivals. Sure they had residency shows, but those were just in two cities. A lot of the others were "Blah Blah festival '08". This was true both in the US and internationally.

Dear Billy Corgan,

Your band sounds boring and hollow without James Iha.

Sincerely,
An lost fan

Apples In Stereo Energize Pepsi Rebranding

As we've mentioned in the past (2007), Robert Schneider's not afraid of the graceful sellout. So, no, we're not surprised that he and his E6 cohorts just scored a Pepsi commercial. (Heck, we already knew how much E6-related bands loved...
