Fleetwood Mac To Get Unleashed On 2009 Tour, Re-Release Rumours

thubmnail icon: Fleetwood Mac To Get Unleashed On 2009 Tour, Re-Release Rumours

Between Lindsey Buckingham solo shots, Vampire Weekend and Death Cab covers, and constantly finding excuses to spin Tusk and Rumours and etc., Fleetwood Mac is one of those "classic" bands that never seem to grow old. Unless you see them in person, because [SPOILER ALERT] they don't look like that pic anymore. Next year you'll be able to pair their timeless material with their timebound bodies: the Mac have promised new tunes, but their upcoming greatest hits tour, called Unleashed, is all about the old. For this first Fleetwood trek in five years, the group promise setlists featuring "all the Mac's many greatest hits." (Sorry Sheryl, this won't include you, and it definitely doesn't include Christine.) They'll hit the road in March and continue on through spring and summer. The first 16 dates are confirmed:

03/01 - Pittsburgh, PA @ Mellon Arena
03/03 - St. Paul, MN @ Xcel Energy Center
03/05 - Chicago, IL @ Allstate Arena
03/08 - Detroit, MI @ Palace of Auburn Hills
03/10 - Washington, DC @ Verizon Center
03/11 - Boston, MA @ TD Banknorth Arena
03/13 - Uniondale, NY@ Nassau Coliseum
03/14 - Uncasville, CT @ Mohegan Sun Arena
03/16 - Rochester, NY @ Blue Cross Arena
03/17 - Albany, NY @ Times Union Center
03/19 - New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden
03/21 - East Rutherford, NJ @ Izod Center
03/24 - Ottawa, ON @ Scotiabank Place
03/25 - Montreal, QC @ Bell Centre
03/26 - Toronto, ON @ Air Canada Centre

Tix go on sale 12/15 at Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Looks like I might be at MSG on my birthday. In conjunction with the tour, Fleetwood Mac's re-releasing Rumours as a CD/DVD package, with previously unreleased tracks and some footage you've never seen. That album's only sold 19 million copies so far, so this should help boost those numbers.

They already re-released Rumours.... there's a remaster that showed up in stores with a bunch of extra stuff 4 or 5 months ago. Unless this is like "ultra-ultra-remastered edition"....

Don't worry, they are doing this tour during March 2009, but plan on taking it to festivals, state fairs, and venue's through spring, summer, and early fall. You know they will be hittng the west coast. Even better a re-release of Rumors (although this has been done already) and a dvd, at the beginning of the tour, and a new studio cd after the tour. "Rumor" is they are recording a double album...some live tracks from the tour they are doing, so we will have some new live tracks of old songs, PLUS some new music...good way to end their recording career if that is the case. There were also rumors about the time Sheryl Crow was selling herself as a new member that the remake of rumors, and double cd after the tour was going to be the end....lets hope not. With this tour in Spring, it may explain why Stevie's soundstage concert and cd are being released in January........signed, a HUGE fan!

I agree, Fleetwood Mac rel-released this album with a second disc and its great, so what can they do to it? Is it just a re-release of the original album? They only thing they could do is release versions or cuts that did not make the 2nd version, plus there has been a couple videos regarding the making of rumors...again, what more can they do? I am a huge fan and will probably buy it anyway, but they should be creative and make it very different....they have had a few greatest hits cd's, box set, so it has to be original.

If you are referring to the 2nd release of Rumors a few years ago, you can order at amazon or any cd store, and look for the double extended disc. One disc with alternate raw versions, etc. It is really really good. You can get this with the White Fleetwood Mac Album, Rumors and their live album (basically their first three albums) The rumors extended one has an awesome version of Oh Daddy, with Stevie whaling awesome background vocals and harmonizing that did not make the original song. The new one they are talking about will be released during this new tour.

One of my favorite memories, in my life, is when I was so down I could not be consoled and my irreparably gorgeous and ebullient girlfriend threw my Rumors vinyl on my dusty Technics 1200 and forced me to dance around the room with her. It sounds so damned good on vinyl. Any new output can only be awesome.

I can not find the answer to this question. Can someone tell me if the tour includes all of fleetwood mac, including Stevie and Limdsey?

Barbara, it is the same lineup as last time, Mick, Lindsay, Stevie, and John. Missing is Christine McVie, who is retired and living in England. These are the same four that did the "Say you will" tour for 135 dates. The next issue of Rolling Stone has an extensive article from Stevie regarding the tour. If you google "fleetwood mac tour 2009" you can find tons on this tour. The site "stevie-nicks.info navigating the web of stevie nicks" you can also find tons on this tour. Her web site, "nicksfix.com" surprisingly is extremely behind in updates and does not even mention this tour.

That's what I'm waiting for! Raleigh or Hampton would be very cool! I don't care what it costs, I'll be there.
