Genesis Get Honored, Perform First Show In 15 Years

Saturday night in Vegas, the VH1 Rock Honors paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, Heart, ZZ Top, and of course our beloved Genesis. The night was notable for its choice of host (Bam Margera? Keeping it classy), but even more significant for its playing host to the first Phil Collins-led Genesis set in a decade and a half. Robin Williams was up to his manic antics in introducing the band, and later Keane took the stage in cover homage. Here's our fave pic from the night, courtesy of Getty. We'll take HAS BEENS for $100, Alex. (J/k we love you Zakk Wylde.)

Phil Collins needs more hair to be in that photo! And who knew Zakk was a Justice fan! What was the night's setlist like?

Genesis performed this...

Performance vid TK! Heart offered up a new tune, while Nickelback saluted ZZ Top with a undoubtedly shitastic version of "Sharp Dressed Man." And then there was the interesting Gretchen Wilson and Alice In Chains duet on Heart's "Barracuda." Here are a couple more pics from the night, and Genesis tour dates below for those excited by the pics of Phil Collins' pants in this post.

Nice pants, Phil.

What, no "Illegal Alien"? Lou Dobbs would've eaten that shit up.

All they played was No Son Of Mine?!?!

It's not horrible, but hardly a song to start off the first time they've played in public since 1992!

And what did Keane do? That's All!!!

Yup, that's all, alright.

How about something to stir the soul rather than rehash old memories of 'that pop band, you know, that played that song? What were they called, Gene Sisters? Simmons, Swamy, Suzy...Swaaa?? SAMSONITE! I was way off.'

I'm not saying play only Peter Gabriel stuff, but play a song with more substance and depth for god's sakes like Domino, Home By The Sea, Fading Lights, The Brazilian, SOMETHING!

Sorry, just another critical rant from a Genesis obsessor!
Johnny Tronny,

Hey! CHeck out my band Fun Machine, it's crazy...
