New David Bazan - "Please, Baby, Please" (Live)

Hey Sean, thanks for tipping us to David Bazan performing new tune "Please, Baby, Please" on Minnesota Public Radio. It includes three vignettes, each centering on entreaties that relate back to the song's title in one way or another -- via a lover's eyes, a Raymond Carver-style phone call, a grown child after a car wreck. Hmm, it's kinda sorta a variation on the Smiths' "Please Please Please," but with a strumming, folksy Pedro lilt. Sorta.

"Please, Baby, Please" ostensibly will appear on the next David Bazan's Black Cloud record (Barsuk). For now, you can hear it via Who Killed The Mixtape. Or maybe he'll play it live.
