New Metric - "Help, I'm Alive"

thumbnail icon: New Metric - "Help, I'm Alive"

There's been a sporadic stream of material coming from Camp Metric since 2005's Live It Out -- like new Emily Haines, Bang Lime, even some new tunes live -- but according to their site, they've finally ready with a fresh batch of studio creations. "Help, I'm Alive" appears to be the new collection's lead single (and the name of a corresponding Canadian tour with fellow countrymen Tokyo Police Club, the Dears, and Sebastian Grainger). You won't hear new tricks here (flipping between their sultry new wave side and a bright, straight-up rock hook), and after a listen or two I'm saying that's totally OK.

Thanks for the tip on that, Danielle. Sounds like they put the three years into writing rather than mold-breaking. So far so good. "Help, I'm Alive" will be on the new record, out sometime in early '09. The Help, I'm Alive tourdates:

12/13 - Toronto, ON @ Sound Academy
12/15 - Winnipeg, MB @ Burton Cummings Theatre
12/16 - Saskatoon, SK @ Sask Prarieland Ex & Trade
12/17 - Edmonton, AB @ Shaw Conference Centre
12/19 - Calgary, AB @ MacEwan Hall
12/21 - Vancouver, BC @ Vogue Theatre
(all dates w/ Tokyo Police Club, the Dears, and Sebastian Grainger and the Mountains)

However i really liked hearing bits of the raw piano stuff.. emilly haines is briliant at fusing her voice to the keys

That tour sounds like the bomb shiznat. They should venture south to the US. It would be greatly appreciated.
