New TV On The Radio - "Dancing Choose"

thubmnail icon: New TV On The Radio - "Dancing Choose"

Our first taste of TVOTR's forthcoming Return To Cookie Mountain followup Dear Science was the funky, optimistic, mystic (and in the chorus, PM Dawn?) leaning "Golden Age," Kyp letting us know that, indeed, a golden age is coming around. Tunde-fronted "Dancing Choose" is taste number two. His scattershot lyrics and quick vocal delivery have more urgency, but check out the similar psychedelic smoothness in the chorus. Two other things worth your attention: Axl Rose gets a mention and "Dancing Choose" is a pun.

You kind of think it's going to keep building, then it doesn't. This is the tracklist again, with what we've heard crossed out:

01 "Halfway Home"
02 "Crying"
03 "Dancing Choose"
04 "Stork & Owl"
05 "Golden Age"
06 "Family Tree"
07 "Red Dress"
08 "Love Dog"
09 "Shout Me Out"
10 "DLZ"
11 "Lover's Day"

Still no idea how these disparate parts add up into a whole -- we're not even halfway home.

Dear Science is out 9/23 via Interscope. Remember to see them live:

Doesn't POP the way Golden Age does-- but I think Brandon makes a good point. Lets see how it fits in the rest of the album. Could be a great third track.

We want Halfway Home and Crying, already!! :)

I'm loving the tracks they've released.
Even better than what they've done before.

This reminds me of "Cash For The Merchandise" from The Music Man. At first, I thought it was a cover.

This album is going to be absolutely fantastic, if these tracks are any indication.

Are you kidding me? "You kind of think it's going to keep building, then it doesn't." Yeah. Same thing about it getting the slightest bit interesting. This is terrible.

I think its a pretty sick song, maybe not as triumphant as golden age, but quality, the end with the horns reminds me of the wrong way...

i think this song sounds pretty doggone good. like gvsb says, should be impressive to see tunde pull off the vocals live. i think this album is going to be killer.
