The Cure Releasing Monthly Singles In Anticipation Of New Album, Heading Out On Tour

thumbnail: The Cure Releasing Monthly Singles In Anticipation Of New Album, Heading Out On Tour

There was a time, a few times really, when the Cure told us they were going to retire, call it quits, pack up the eyeliner and hairspray and go gently into the night. We all know how that went, but now they're one-upping their longevity by releasing a new single on the 13th of each month until the release of their still untitled 13th studio album, which comes out in September. Why not just call it 13, Robert? Anyhow, if you do the math (or read the press release), this means four A&B-side singles getting us to 9/13, the official release date of the record. Details:

First single "The Only One" (released May 13th) includes the b-side "NY Trip"; second single "Freakshow" (released June 13th) includes the b-side "All Kinds Of Stuff"; neither b-side will appear on the album. Both tracks were produced by Robert Smith and Keith Uddin. July 13th and August 13th singles will be announced shortly...

It's the first album since 2004's The Cure. The singles will be available in digital and "physical" forms. And, speaking of "The 13th"...

Fantastico! It's Friday, we're in love. Additionally, the band (currently, Smith, Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, and Porl Thompson) is launching a tour in early May with 65daysofstatic.
