The White Stripes Schedule A Canadian Sight-Seeing Tour

Jack and Meg have never really "done" Canada before -- at least not in a touring capacity -- so a couple of weeks after festivals in Europe and one in Manchester, TN (i.e. Bonnaroo), the Stripes will embark on an exhaustive exploration of our neighbor to the north. Said Jack White:

Having never done a full tour of Canada, Meg and I thought it was high time to go whole hog. We want to take this tour to the far reaches of the Canadian landscape. From the ocean to the permafrost. The best way for us to do that is ensure that we perform in every province and territory in the country, from the Yukon to Prince Edward Island. Another special moment of this tour is the show which will occur in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on July 14th, The White Stripes’ Tenth Anniversary.
After they're done trudging through the permafront, the duo's got similar plans for the States, hitting first-time stops including Wilmington, DE and Southaven, MS, in addition to shows at Madison Square Garden and Boston's Agganis Arena. Take the jump for the dates.

Yeah, us Canadians are pretty excited about this. I can't think of a major band of this stature doing anything like this in recent times; the closest was a cross-country tour that Pearl Jam did a few years ago, but even they didn't hit up the Territories. Gotta love them Stripes.

Mississippi, yay. But Southaven... why the hell Southaven? I guess they wanted to be as close to another state as possible, I mean they basically won't even have to come into the state this way. That kind of pisses me off. I kind of hate them now. Hah.

I don't see the logic in hitting montreal before ottawa and london. wouldn't they go straight west to east?

Ottawa Bluesfest is gonna rule this year...Dylan, Kanye, Stripes, Cat Power, Metric, Built to Spill, Tokyo Police Club...ok maybe it's nothing compared to Coachella or P4k, but for someone living half an hour away, it's a pretty big deal.

It's about time Thunder Bay gets a good musical gruop in town. Way to go White Stripes.

Seriously why no Windsor date? Its right across the river from their home town. Canada doesn't end at London you know, there is still a major city south of it.

Yep. Bluesfest is going to kick serious ass. I get to see these guys at Bonnaroo as well.
And i'm not a real White Stripes fan (i don't mind them) but this cross-Canada tour is pretty awesome of them. Some of these cities rarely will get a band as big as these guys showing up.

yuka honda: you are a dumb ass. why would they play in abbotsford if they are playing one hour away in burnaby? besides, they probably don't want to get burned at the stake by all you religious fuck ups.

Southaven, because it is five minutes from downtown Memphis, which makes it 1000% better than any of the other dreadful towns in Mississippi. Can you honestly blame them?

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...
