Morrissey Announces US Label, 2009 US Tour Dates

thubmnail icon: Morrissey Announces US Label, 2009 US Tour Dates

We channeled high-school poetry class when analyzing Morrissey's Years Of Refusal album art, but even with his weighty caterpillar tattoo and all that the child-is-the-father-to-the-man business, the man didn't actually have a US label ready for the Jerry Finn-produced collection until now: Moz's Ringleader of the Tormentors followup will be out on Attack/Lost Highway, a day after it's released in the UK. Also, the last "confirmed tracklist" wasn't so confirmed, so we have the updated version. Finally, he's booked a US tour, complete with "intimate club dates." December spawned a lot of Morrissey news:

01 "Something Is Squeezing My Skull"
02 "Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed"
03 "Black Cloud"
04 "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris"
05 "All You Need Is Me"
06 "When Last I Spoke to Carol"
07 "That's How People Grow Up"
08 "One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell"
09 "It's Not Your Birthday Anymore"
10 "You Were Good In Your Time"
11 "Sorry Doesn't Help"
12 "I'm OK By Myself"

Years Of Refusal is out 2/16 in UK via Polydor/Decca and 2/17 in the US via Attack/Lost Highway. The tour:

This brings to mind what they're saying for Coachella 2009 headliners/subheadliners:

The Killers, Morrissey, Oasis, Weezer, The Replacements, Neil Young, Franz Ferdinand, TV on the Radio, Kings of Leon

Has anybody else heard if these are what they're going with?

...or minus Oasis/Weezer and replace with Blur/Jane's Addiction.

Why is he playing the National in Richmond and not the 9:30 club in DC? Of course everything exciting happens in Richmond after I leave.

You know Morrissey's come up with a great song name in "It's Not Your Birthday Anymore" when it can be shouted at someone for maximum comedic effect (much like "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice").

Morrissey at coachella?!? now add him with Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young & Britney Spears and we might actually have an awesome lineup this year.

hope they also finally get R.E.M. & Bowie also.

Whenever I see that cover art, I get the feeling that we may see some "nevermind baby" backlash in 16 years.

And call me crazy, but I think the Moz looks very good for a man that's about to break the 50th year barrier.

Anyways, excitemennntttttt for the Bowery show.

Julia-

Tough! Richmond wins this round! I am so tired of driving to DC to see a good show. Thank god for The National and Toad's Place opening in Richmond. Why don't some of you DCers come down here for once and spend some tourist dollars?

Hi, do you know if any of Mozza's U.S. gigs will be broadcasted on radio or anything? Or do you know of any tapers of Morrissey gigs?

It's just that I run The Courteeners fan forum 'Snorting and Cavorting', which is kinda semi-official, who are supporting him through a lot of the U.S. leg of the tour!

I'm looking to see if The Courteeners will get any airplay etc. so I can cover it on the forum - I've started a thread for the tour and to gather up all the info about the dates >>> http://www.snortingandcavorting.com/index.cgi?board=gigs&action=display&thread=959
