New Jason Lytle - "Yours Truly, The Commuter"

thubmnail icon: New Jason Lytle - "Yours Truly, The Commuter"

Ex-Grandaddy Jason Lytle told us about a "Brand New Sun" and delivered a breezy set at SXSW. Now the Montana transplant's giving us the title track for his forthcoming Yours Truly, the Commuter. Like the other songs on the album, it's a gently anthemic electro-acoustic track that reminds us to keep things mellow and, even if you're limping, to be thankful you're heading home. As the title suggests, it feels a bit like a note from the Lytle man.

Jason Lytle - "Yours Truly, The Commuter" (MP3)

Yours Truly, The Commuter is out 05/19 via Anti-. After that, the commuter's on tour with Neko Case:

06/03 - Vancouver, BC @ The Vogue
06/04 - Seattle, WA @ The Paramount
06/05 - Portland, OR @ Crystal Ballroom
06/07 - Eugene, OR @ MacDonald Theater
06/09 - San Francisco, CA @ The Warfield
06/12 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Greek Theatre

Hey Martin Powell, what the hell are you saying? I don't want Sophtware Slump II or Sumday II. Those are great records but maybe you should listen to this as it's own work rather than comparing it to something he did almost 10 years ago. Artists grow, change and move on to different ways to write and play. Your kind are just as bad as those that go see Radiohead live to hear "Creep."

I'm not overly fond of the Crystal, but I am so going to that show.
