Track 3's

The O.C.'s music beds have been pretty sweet this season. The first two episodes featured Dios Malos, Album Leaf, and Sufjan Stevens among other indie faves. Last night's had Beta Band, the Walkmen (cameo!), and brilliant New Pornographer A.C. Newman.

A.C. Newman - "On The Table" (from Slow Wonder, Matador)
Here's another band that's been rocking the iPod. Maybe we'll hear them in a future episode? I can already picture Peter Gallagher's eyebrows dancing to it.
The Helio Sequence - "Don't Look Away" (from Love & Distance, Sub Pop)
Fun Fact: Unlike Jack White, Peter Gallagher is willing to work with Lindsay Lohan.

I got pretty giddy when they played "On the Table".
probably one of my favourite songs of the year.

i suppose the only reason the walkmen cameo'd on the o.c. was cause wbr put out their soundtrack and the walkmen are a wbr artist. i could never get that into the walkmen...is there something i'm missing?

also, what sufjan stevens song was on there?

The Walkmen blow.

I've liked most of the music on the show this season, but does anybody else think the episodes themselvs have been pretty poor? The first two in particular had too much exposition. And how many times is it interesting to watch Seth do something to try to win back Rachel Bilson. And why would he want to win her back when she's got her hair styled so it looks like she's wearing a bad wig?

By the way, they should have just done the job right, and named the music club Peach Pit After Dark.

helio sequence needs a bit of a push - would be great to hear them somewhere besides KEXP and my iPod.

I caught The Helio Sequence for the third time in three months last Friday as they opened for Blonde Redhead out here in Seattle. They played it up for the local crowd, opting for their older Pink Floyd/My Bloody Valentine-type freakouts over stuff from their latest CD. It was different that way as opposed to their last two shows where they really pimped their new songs. You guys should also check out their partner-in-crime band, IQU. Wherever The Helio Sequence is, this duo from Olympia isn't far behind.

I'll concur that the Helio Sequence's live show is a hot one. Definitley check them out -- huge sound for just two guys and a laptop.

The OC has had momentary moments of brilliance, but none of the sustained excellence of the first season. I think they just burned through too many good ideas in the first season.

Paris MAY BE A SKANK, but Jack White's girlfriend is Renee Zellweger. Which is worse? A SKANK, or RENEE ZELLWEGER? Yeah, that's what I thought. I missed the O.C. but I taped it oh my god don't tell me what happens.

Patrik, I'll have to ruin it for you: someone loves someone, and that someone doesn't love them back.

I thought Renée and Jack broke up.

Anyway, I love it when celebs snark on other celebs in the press. It's so much better than the party line, "S/he is so generous and lovely to work with." See, celebs ARE just like us. They think Paris is a skank, too.

Does anybody know the name or artist of the song that was playing at the end of the show when Seth and Marisa were sitting on the bench? I believe the chorus said something like "you wore me down" I like the Walkmen but wasn't crazy for the songs that were played on the show. Can't wait for The Killers to be on in December!

Jaclyn, the song was "Wore Me Down" by Rachel Yamagata.

um, why has no one commented on the plot of the "untitled lindsay lohan/ nick canon project"? a new yorker is set up on a blind date with a BLIND MAN? is nick cannon going for an Oscar here or this is just going to be the greatest in bad romantic comedy? are there going to be a lot of sight gags using cannon's blindness? heh, "sight gags!" get it?!

What was the first song the Walkmen played? I only caught the last 15 minutes of the show.

Maybe Carl Newman can't work around Neko Case's schedule anymore. So calling yourself A.C. and putting your former band on hold to release some solo stuff is cool for now. 'On The Table' is just as catchy as I thought it'd be. 'It's Only Divine Right' is Newman's best song to date, though.

it was so great to see rachael yamagata getting her recognition finally on the end sequence of the OC. the song fit so perfectly with the scene too. saw her live in TO for a free promotional show. she deserves the attention. now if stupid record execs would stop talking during the middle of her set.

Any other Helio songs floating out there for free on the Web? Really liked that tune and wouldn't mind listening to more throughout the workday today.

Does anyone know the Band and the song that was playing at the very end of the Second Season of the O.C.? It was the when Marisa shot Ryan's brother and Seth and Summer came in and saw them on the floor.
