Tsunami Benefit Roundup

Anyone got a review of the tsunami benefit at Great American Music Hall this past weekend? Apparently Mark Kozalek covered Modest Mouse, Ben Gibbard covered Archers Of Loaf, and Jonathon Richman acted goofy. If you've got MP3s, let us hear! Or check this blog for other details about the show and this blog for photos and videos of Ben's facial hair.

There's also Dave Navarro's write-up of Camp Freddy's tsunami benefit the same night. It was '80s (members of Berlin and Bow Wow Wow) + grunge (Jerry Cantrell and Courtney Love) + Leif Garret and the other usual suspects. Here's a setlist:

Ballroom Blitz - Camp Freddy
Ziggy Stardust - Camp Freddy
Bang a Gong - Michael Des Barres
Feel Like Makin Love - Michael Des Barres & Anabella Lewin
Candy - Anabella Lewin
Metro - Terri Nunn
Suffragette City - Terri Nunn & Steve Stevens
Sanctuary - Steve Isaacs
Man In The Box - Jerry Cantrell & Terri Nunn
Jailbreak - Jerry Cantrell
Pretty Vacant - John Claydon & Steve Jones
Mountain Song - Courtney Love
Should I Stay - Leif Garret
God Save The Queen - Lemmy & Steve Jones
Whole Lotta Love - Linda Perry & Steve Stevens
I Wanna Be Your Dog - Everybody

Here's Dave and Terri Nunn benefitting tsunami victims.

i saw ben gibbard, dave bazan (pedro the lion) and james mercer (the shins) play a tsunami benefit gig in Seattle Washington in mid January that was amazing. if only someone had audio from it. james mercer has probably the most amazing voice live. on cd with the shins it sounds kind of weird, but live, simply amazing. at the show i was at, ben gibbard did a cover of michael jackson thriller that was hilarious.

i was at the show and it was awesome. i remember being impressed with eric bachman, though having not heard his music before; it was sad and emotional, but pretty. he played songs off the new record (new archers of loaf?).

i love johnathan richman. he was quirky and funky and knows how to sway his hips and get the crowd going. he's fucking awesome at his guitar playing, and multilingual to boot (songs were sun in french, italian and spanish).

mark kozelak was also incredibly hauntingly beautiful. amazing performance. i'm not good at describing this stuff, especially if it's been a couple of days removed from the performance, but he was incredible, which also means i was left speechless with his performance.

ben gibbard was awesome in his beard and joked about how it was good beard season as he was about to begin recording a new death cab album. he played several postal service songs which was kinda like a treat. he modestly pointed out how he was lucky to be playing with the rest of the guys on the bill and that they were better than he was on guitar (which is a partial truth). what else... he looked like a college english professor with his beard and glasses. it was cute. i don't have any pictures. the sound in great american music hall is one of the best in the bay area, and everything was pretty flawless in that regard. it's my favorite venue in san francisco, and was the best setting for the show.

overall, very impressed.

I had to leave right before the encore. Does anyone know what he played for the encore?

Kozelek has been playing Modest Mouse songs for a while on tour (like, multiple songs in a night!), but I can't ever seem to find any mp3s. I'd love to hear his take...it certainly has to be better than that Ben Lee version of "Float On."

All the video clips are timing out for me. Anyone else?
