Tuesday Rehab Report

Keane singer Tom Chaplin has entered rehab, forcing the band to cancel its North American tour. Fifteen-year-old Chaplin writes on keanemusic.com:

"I've been having to deal with an increasing problem with drink and drugs, and the time has come to get the professional help I need to sort myself out. I feel desperately disappointed to be letting down our fans, but I want to get myself right now so that I can be back on the road for the rest of the year."
Yes, we know he's not fifteen, but look at that cute lil' face!

Darkness lead singer Justin Hawkins is in rehab too! The glam-rock band's sophomore effort didn't impact the charts the way Keane's 2nd one did, but they'll soldier on. Via thedarknessrock.com:

"We would however like to make it clear that this emphatically does not signal the end for The Darkness nor are their label Atlantic Records considering 'dropping' them. On the contrary, they have taken up their option with the band and are looking forward to releasing the Darkness' third album in early 2007."
We never said Atlantic was dropping you! It was merely a suggestion.

Finally, we're pretty sure (who can really tell these days) that Pete Doherty remains in court-ordered rehab while he awaits a 9/4 trial for possession of heroin, crack, marijuana, and Kate Moss.

Hopefully one of the rockers will run into Mel Gibson and commiserate how they hate fucking Muse!

It was surprising to me the Darkness' label didn't really push their second album over here and they really didn't tour the States much after it was released considering I remember them selling out tons of shows on their first tour over here.

Granted the second album kind of sucked, but still weird.

When you hear the sirens, it's time to stash Kate Moss under the seat.

maybe they can all form a rehab-super group and then VH1 make a reality tv show about it.

aww, tom chaplin is the last rock star (from more recent bands, that is) i'd imagined to have problems with booze and drugs 'coz he seemed to be a goody two shoes. anywho, i wish he'll get treatment seeks in rehab. he'll be missed. i mean, come on! how could anyone not like that cute cabbage patch doll-esque face of his?

as for the darkness, who cares? isn't it about time they go away?

^ For real! He's so....cherubic? Awwww...well I hope everything works out, I like Keane and it sucks that they won't be able to tour for awhile.

But...does anyone really care abut the Darkness anymore?

i've seen keane live and couldn't stop thinking how he was manning the mic like axle or jim morrison, it was kind of distracting, hope he stays off the sauce when he gets out...

I believe in a thing called the process of restoring an individual (as a convict or drug addict) to a useful and constructive place in society especially through some form of vocational, correctional, or therapeutic retraining?

But... what about Midlake? They were supposed to open for them.

How could he be a raging druggie and still write such estrogen filled, bland music? And if his current body of work was fueled by coke and scotch, and thus, "edgy," I dread to hear what the new "clean and sober" Keane sounds like. I guess we can look forward to more albums full of songs that would feel at home in a tampon commercial or at the gap I guess.

YEAAAH! Come on you Brits! American rockers are clearly lame and all "straight edge" or whatever it's called.

Screw the guy who made that crack about the Darkness! The second album wasn't that bad...the first was definitely better, but still not bad! The Darkness is there for those of us who still have a little metal in our soul. And as far as Keane...Tom is such a cutie pie. It's a shame that he's going through such a hard time. He reminds me of a Campbell's Soup cartoon kid! Love him!
