Two Classic Rock Covers

The Delgados covering ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky." From an old Peel Session apparently. Thanks Passenger 86 for the link.

Giant Drag covering Beach Boys' "God Only Knows." Link via Ultra 2.0.

It's actually one of the b-sides on the "All You Need Is Hate" single released in February of last year.

No offense or nuthin', just reminding folks that there's plenty of other good tunes where this one came from.

Cheers.

I really enjoy the Delgados covering ELO. It just seems to fit....even though the orig. is even better.

Just what God Only Knows needs; poppy chicks.
Excellent.

Scott you rock- thanks for these covers they made me remember about the Delgados, I was into them a few years back but lost touch...

Damn, the God Only Knows file won't play. I have always liked that song. The Bowie version was the song my wife and I picked for our first dance at our wedding.

The link still works fine (I'm not sure why people had trouble with it).

"god only knows" isn't a giant drag cover per se, annie and micah from giant drag recorded it with one other guy before the band was put together for drunken fun and nothing else. it is posted secretly on their website in the bio section. i'm assuming thats how you found it?

Shame that the Delgados split up amonth ago. 5 wonderful albums and many a classic Peel session. "Mr Blue Sky" was from the 2002 session and showed up later as a B-side.
