U2's Vertigo Coming To iTunes?

MTV News reports: U2 may consider rush-releasing their upcoming album, tentatively titled Vertigo, on Apple iTunes. In an interview with the U.K.'s The Daily Telegraph, Bono said that if the music stolen recently during a photo shoot appears on the Internet, they would "release it immediately as a legal download on iTunes, and get hard copies into the shops by the end of the month." The album was otherwise slated for a fall release.

Has anyone heard it? I didn't think their last album was so hot, but then again I liked POP so what do I know.

Sweet. Now I can completely ignore this album sooner rather than later. Thanks U2.

sounds like a marketing scam to me ... if it was that good, don't you think they'd just release it through regular distribution channels first? i mean, sometimes the streets can't wait (see 50 Cent, Jay Z, Eminem); however, in the case of U2, i'm pretty sure the streets CAN wait.

i thought it was a marketing scam too. actually i thought they'd "accidentally" leak a bunch of tracks but then release an album of the "real" tracks later in the year. would be cool.

love them. they are truly great. get better every album. and pop was cool too!! but this one is supposed to be more guitar, heavy darker, more of what the edge wanted to do. cant wait. i hate download releases though. inferior quality, who wants mp3s??

I liked POP better than All That You Can't Leave Behind, too. But basically U2 and Bono's messiah complex bore me.

I'm actually the Editor of U2 webzine Interference.com.. what we've heard thru sources is that nothing is confirmed about what's going on, including the album name. We were told by Universal that the label is essentially in a "holding pattern" as to when the album will be released. Nothing valid (i.e. album leakage)has appeared online and/or on the p2p networks -- only a couple Brit bands that don't really sound like Bono/Edge.

I love U2's POP the most as well. But if you wanna listen to some other "B-side" songs by them, just browse to the website above:

U2 are still the world's most kick ass band!
They don't need a bunch of phony hype to pump up their new album. It's called talent and a HUGE following that has lasted 20 years.. These guys could release an album full of farting noises and still see it go 10 times platinum!

U2 rocks and the new track is A+ level of single. Lets all hope the rest of the cd is just as good.

I also loved POP, "Do you feel love" is my fav off that cd.

Bono described it as "Punk Rock from Venus" and it's funny but that's exactly what it sounds like. Yes, Good ol' rock 'n' roll is back. I love Bono's soaring vocals in the chorus, Adam's killer bass line, Larry's thumping drum beat, and The Edge is completely bringing it to the table. This record is destined to be at #1. Can you say Grammy??

U2's back baby, this is going to be their year (again).

Every U-2 album sounds like it could be their first, they're that good at changing the scenery. I find the woa wo wo's near the middle really brings out their early punk influences and at times the main riff througout the song sounds like L7. They've turned up the volume, it's catchy and the band in my mind are giving the fans something to move to again, which may be one of the last dances from the 'last of the rock stars, U2:)

And what kind of name is bono? maybe it's short for boner" wich is what "bono" like to eat.

p.s blow me U2 fans

kain, have you ever realised just how stupid you sound? iguess just your mom has and admitted it. bono took his name from a hearing aid shop in dublin(do you even know where that is)? bono vox means good voice in latin, hence his name. not that you'd know what latin is. Also, "suck much ass"? Unless you're a 10 year old, you've got a lot of growing up to do.
