Vegoose Lineup 2007

Rock in Vegas, sounds grand. Vegoose is one of the few US fests we have yet to take a gamble on, and the promise of celebrating sick sets by losing our shirts at craps is proving a temptation too difficult to ignore. The fest runs by day at the Sam Boyd Stadium (set on a 30-acre, mountain-set grass field), followed by "Vegoose At Night," taking groups like the Shins and setting 'em in high-profile Vegas venues like the House Of Blues, the Joint, etc. (Sorry, Night tix sold separately.) And they've jumped on the classic-album bandwagon, getting Iggy & The Stooges to offer up a track-by-track retelling of Fun House. To the lineup:

Rage Against The Machine
Daft Punk
Iggy & The Stooges
Muse
The Shins
Cypress Hill
Queens Of The Stone Age
Public Enemy
Michael Franti & Spearhead
Umphrey's McGee
Thievery Corporation
STS9
Ghostface Killa & The Rhythm Roots Allstars
Blonde Redhead
Gogol Bordello
U.N.K.L.E.
Ghostland Observatory
Pharoahe Monch
Battles
They're promsiing more artists announcements soon. VIP and Two-Day General Admission tix go on sale 7/28, Single-Day tix are up on 8/18 (assuming availability) at Vegoose.com.

Who's been double down there? We're Vegoose virgins, so 411 would be appreciated.

Vegoose is great... It's a little far from the strip but worth the trip. I wouls suggest renting a big car for the weekend. The shuttle busses leave a lot to be desired when you are itching to be back at the hotel after the show.

Last year was not very crowded and that made for a really nice vibe.

Vegoose gets a B+ from me.

Finally, Ghostface has a real backing band behind him.

I've been to both, the first year was solid, featuring - Beck, Shins, Decemberists, Spoon, Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips and tons of jambands. something for everyone.

the line up yr 2 wasn't as good... Petty, Black Crowes, sort of a yawn... but we managed to have fun.

the VIP tix we bought the first yr were not worth the price, the viewing areas weren't that great.. off to the side of stage, nothing on stage. BUT with VIP tix, you gained access to better bathrooms.

the stage set up the first yr was better, they used the UNLV stadium for the bigger shows, which I liked, because I coudl take a seat and still see the show. they also used the surrounding fields for the other stages.. I would have rather seen some tents like at Bonnaroo.. than just stages..

yr 2 they didn't use the stadium and stuck to the filed stages.. this was sort of a bummer.

they did have a hip hop tent..

the stadium is FAR 25 minutes from the strip, we usually grabbed a cab, so that cost a bit of dough... the whole transport thing was sort of pain. but worth it in the end.

both yrs were a big party,

the hard rock hotel is a great place to stay and party if you can afford it. there are other smaller, less expensive hotels near the hard rock.

this year's line up is a departure for Vegoose, in the past they relied on more jambands.. this year the line up seems a bit more hard rock and dance oriented.

worth the trip if you like Vegas.

Man, that lineup is seriously "meh."

And can Rage just announce they're officially unretired now that they're playing any and every festival?

I went the first year and had a great time. It's really the perfect city for a festival. Nice hotels /casino's are cheap and the line up is probably the strongest this year than any of the two previous.

Cons:

1.Far away from everything on the strip.
2.Lots of jambands (like Bonnaroo), but less hippies travel to Las Vegas.

Vegas, cheap hotels? well, maybe some of the dives, but the nice casinos/hotels cost bucks

I'm a local and went in 2006 and it is a solid music fest. This year the Jam band element seems to have been removed, which is for the better. its worth going to, and MUSE + GOGOL alone is enough to make this year look amazing.

Vegoose is great. Since it hasn't caught on as a crazy big festival the atmosphere is really laid back. And a ton of people dress up to go with the Halloween atmosphere. Recommended. Although the first year was the best.

Been to all the major festivals, and Vegoose stands at the top. Been there for each of it's two years, and I plan on going every year for several reasons....
1) Airfare to Vegas is fucking Cheap
2) There are a ton of hotels off the strip that are cheap
3) The line up is always great, and has changed significantly each year
4) Not very crowded (However, this will prob chng this year with rage playing FUCK), we have been first five rows for all the shows I have wanted to see in past years....
(i.e- Flaming lips, Raconteurs, Shins, Catpower, Arcade Fire, Decemberists, G Love, Fiona Apple, Beck)
5) Where else can you run around until the sun comes up after you rocked out for 12 hours???
6) The late shows are just that... LATE... after the festival ends...(or on the nights b4 or after the festival) and most of the acts are the same artists that you can see at the festival playing a second show... a great concept... and a great opportunity to see your favorite band play again if they happen to be in the lineup!!
7) If your a football fan, they have a sweet sports lounge that covers all the games (last year they had 7 or so games on at once in different sections of the sports lounge tent... GO BRONCOS!!!
8) Im going to fucking be there!!! See you in the crowd and on the strip... I'll be the vampire sucking the beer out of dixie cups!!

SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

I live here, but I dunno...it's really too fucking hot to stand outside for that long. We'll see. Every asshole with no neck will be there to see Rage, though.

I honestly don't think there is any better weather than Vegas in October... each of the past two years it has hovered around 78 degrees all day. Got a bit cold at night, but not bad. And your right... there is going to be so many people there to see rage. Too fuckin many. Way to fuckin many.

bought VIP tics this weekend, hoping they are worth the price. How tight is security, i.e. smoking??

Someone mentioned yawning last year while they watched the Black Crowes. You wouldn't have been yawning if you were over at The Mars Volta instead. Maybe gaping with your mouth open.

For this year it is a departure, but even being more of a jam band fan I'll be back for more Vegoose. Rest up before you show up, sleep isn't much of an option. It is very well run and despite being off the strip they have great transportation to the show and back.

And that is perhaps in my opinion what makes this so cool, the getting back. After rocking out all day long you come back the strip and it's halloween weekend and people are getting crazy all over the place, and many are costumes. And if you want you can then go to a show at 1 in the morning for a full regular concert. It's not like seeing a show and going home and shutting it down. Instead you go back to your hotel, shower (if your not a really dirty hippie, of course if you were a hippy you wouldn't be in a hotel to begin with), and head out on the strip and meet people and party and get looney till the sun comes up. Then you have a couple hours to maybe sleep before anohter day of it.

Hello everyone, What time does the festival typically end by? We’re considering taking a redeye back home on Sunday night but I’m sure if we’ll have enough time. I would hat to leave the show early.

I'm going for the first time this year so i was hoping for some advice. First, if anyone knows any shortcuts to get there...also, do you wear costumes there...since it's the whole halloween thing? comment back if anyone can help me out.

I recommend thievery corporation if anyone is trying to decide what late show to see, they really bring it for their live performances. With a constantly rotating lineup of beautiful singers, and they actually play most of their tripped out, worldly sound with real instruments. lots of people of stage.

Vegoose 2007 was a hit. For those who think it is far away from the action on the strip, it is, if you have to rely on foot or a bicycle for transportation.

Even with RAGE as the headliner for the second day, the crowd was around 20,000 peeps each day, with most on Sunday showing for RAGE. Nothing too crowded.

Excellent festival.
