Video Hangover: Insane Clown Posse - "Homies"

Every week, we dig in the archives for videos that we find noteworthy, memorable, or just unbelievably stupid. And then, Jon McMillan breaks 'em down for you. Why Video Hangover? Because when you watch as many videos as we do, you're going to feel it afterwards.

"Homies"
Insane Clown Posse, 2002

Insane Clown Posse are your friends for life -- whether you like it or not.

The Insane Clown Posse party like it's 1997
I can only assume that this isn't the worst ICP video ever, but it has to one of the most bizarre. The song is basically a Kid Rock b-side with a bunch of swearing, but the video has the production values of a late-'90s Limp Bizkit wankfest. Did some label fund this nonsense, or did these guys pony up the cash themselves? Either way, they got their money's worth. Now, that doesn't mean this video isn't incredibly stupid -- it does, after all, involve a bunch of clowns rock-rapping about "homies." There's also a floating broom, some reasonably attractive women, and, at 3:45, what might just be the first ever all-ninja spelling montage (it's H-O-M-I-E-S, in case you were wondering). From what I gather, homies are just like regular friends, except they make terrible music. It's kind of sweet, in a way. And if you don't think so, I guess you can fuck off.

Those green theme guys are scary. Green haired dude has the voice of Harvey Fierstein and the eyes of the Beautiful Freak cover.

Is this song actually about those little plastic figurines you get from vending machine, also called "Homies?" And apparently, I.C.P. are cannibals. It's no surprise, really.

okay tony. that's dumb. icp are just catering to the white trash maggots . maybe 'fuckin flippin' fries' is good enough to feed a trailor full of raggedy haired, black footed children. maybe all you 'JUGGALOS' should take the money you spend on face paint and put it towards reading a few books.

I have always been wary of ICP and it's fans. these are the people who cook your fast food, pump you gas and pick up your garbage after all. Well, the two fans that have jobs anyway. I really don't want to diss them.

I pretty much think Mike Judge got every idea for Idiocracy from ICP.
