Amanda Palmer And High School Drama Club Stage Neutral Milk Hotel Musical You knew she dug Brecht and now Palmer's collaborated with her former drama teacher Steven Bogart and the kids at her former Boston-area Lexington High School to create "a play that uses music... not a musical." It's called "The Needle That Sings in Her Heart" and, yes, In the Aeroplane's its inspiration/backdrop. Can jazz hands play musical saw? Watch.

God I wish he would put out a new album.

Same... I'm not sure I want to watch this thing... Sounds scary.

Amanda Palmer is THE BEST. One of the truly great and kind personalities in music.

Nice thought for sure, but not so awesome in actuality, imho.

I'm just going to say it. I don't like Amanda Palmer. Well, her music anyway. I'm sure she could be a nice person, but that's neither here nor there.

i don't like the NMH meets hot topic vibe at all. the whole thing looks like a panic at the disco music video.

Was Neutral Milk Hotel known for having 15 people talking over one another in indeterminable accents? If so, bravo Amanda P.

I can safely say that, so far, this is actually one of the best produced high school productions I've seen, (despite the 15 minute prelude, which seemed marred by some technical difficulties). It's beautifully staged and directed.

But it's reeeeeally fucking weird to see these songs in a musical. Really, really, really fucking weird.

I don't know if this is going into "Across The Universe" territory yet. But we'll see.

And by "Across The Universe" territory, I mean, the Worst.

Eric!

It's like High School Musical for the art freaks and geeks. Or Three Penny Opera, but less indoctrinating.
The best part was the black Nazi.
Definitely more interesting than the 11th graders' NMH tribute concert I witnessed in Iowa City.

That was really long, but I liked it.
