I dont think they suck but they are definitely over-rated (may I say even more over-rated than Vampire Weekend?). I mean really, everyone was shouting "MPP IS THE BEST ALBUM THIS YEAR...WITH CAPSLOCKS ON!" but it was crap. Granted it's left to one's own opinion but I believe Strawberry Jam and Feels were infinitely better than that sorry album.

I don't really hate or love the band, but the fact that there is no consensus as to what the appeal is makes me suspicious. I mean, I know we aren't supossed to listen to albums for longer than a month anymore, but I couldn't see myself doing it. Furthermore, I have yet to meet an AC fan who sounds like they actually listen to AC.
I'm gonna wait until the dust settles before I start calling bullshit outright, but I will predict that I WILL be calling it at some point.

After a frustrating year of Fleet Foxes...I was really hoping that 2009 would have started better. Hopefully people will reach their saturation point, and bands like Fucked Up will rule the world.
A final thought...I don't hate "AnCo" as much as I hate their (mostly) almost evangelistic.

no one has given a legitimate reason as to why it's a bad album. some of the songs like "my girls," "summertime clothes" and "lion in a comma" are very electropop and very easy to listen to.
they still have some experimental aspects to their music and do some amazing things with the vocals on this album. if you've listened to all their albums you can see the way their music has evolved.
there's nothing to get here, you're just all idiots.

AC is just a few guys makin music, lets leave them alone. They didn't claim to be this great band, the aren't acting like The Edge for christ sake.
I personally don't enjoy most of MPP and theres a lot better going on in music today. AC seemed to get a little lazy a little trapped into their style. I can see why people would like it and i do to an extent but it wears thin very quickly, you dont need 50 minutes of AC, you need about 5 then you get the idea and myswell just listen to it over and over b/c they dont change much.

Animal collective have been great for years. They know they don't know how to play instruments like other people do....so they're obviously not trying to sound technically amazing, but technically they're amazing. I think you've just got to be hit by the emotionality and warmth of their music to truly dig it. If you don't get those chills and boners then you're probably not a fan...but I recommend going to a show sometime to get the full experience...also try Here comes the Indian and Sung Tongs.
