Antony & The Johnsons Do "Aeon" For Letterman

thumbnail icon: Antony & The Johnsons Do "Aeon" For Letterman

Mr. Hegarty is in town because a) he lives here so he usually is but also b) he's doing two sold out nights at Town Hall starting tonight, kicking off a massive and mostly sold-out 40+ run of shows through North America and Europe. Ticket holders are lucky; Antony's shows tend to be as stunning and theatrical as his songs and videos. These televised stops, at The Culture Show and last night at the Ed Sullivan, suggest Hegary will be recreating Nico Muhly's gorgeous The Crying Light compositional contributions onstage, which means extra money's worth for all. Antony gets into this take on "Aeon," interjecting "uhhs" to punctuate lyrics, bobbing and throbbing at the piano like some Ray Charles-on-Arthur Russels minstrel-hybrid. Can you tell I'm excited to see him tomorrow night.

The Crying Light is out, and is great. And there are a ton of chances to see him this spring, if you live in one of the not-sold-out cities or are European:

Really good, but what's up this guy? He looks like a dorky, over weight woman who probably has lots of cats.

With a voice like that, dude can look however he wants.

You must be a huge Kings of Leon fan. They're pretty.

Is this the year 2000 yet?
I'm glad Antony is out there to make people like you question their concepts.

I'm so happy I woke up early and got third row seats for their Bristol show. New album is quite simply stunning, and the videos I've seen have been the same.

This is indeed a great performance. Just saw him on Valentine's Day in Minneapolis-here's a review if you'd like to know what's in store for you. It was a wonderful performance, as I'm sure his shows @ Town Hall will be. Cheers!

At the show in Milwaukee he sang Beyonce's "Crazy In Love". When he sang that first line everyone cheered, it was so unexpected and so very pleasing! He puts her voice to shame!

Ha. He looks like if Gilbert Grapes mom lost around 200 pounds. He needs to cut that heinously bad h.... OH MY GOD! This is Boy George isn't it?! It's about time he got rid of the old chameleon top hat gear and started rocking Maylene and the Sons of Disaster hair.

Your comment would sound fantastic read in the voice of Stewie Griffin.

SNL should do a skit on Antony called "Indie Pat: Is it a boy or is it a girl?"

I missed the Town Hall show, but just found this video on Antony performing Crazy in Love in Toronto earlier this week:
