Antony & The Johnsons Do "Kiss My Name" For Jonathan Ross
Antony's The Crying Light is a triumph, his various television performances have been equally fantastic, ergo this recent stop by the Jonathan Ross show is worth a few minutes of your eyes and ears. After Town Hall, we noted "Hegarty's Johnsons at present are a crack crew of genre leapers, featuring a cellist, electric bassist, violinist, and two multi-instrumentalists ... an adept band that can reproduce all that Antony's covered, from plantation blues to Nico Muhly-arranged, avant-classical pop." They're all here for this elegant reproduction of "Kiss My Name"'s fluttering, orchestral shuffle. These days bands on live TV are either drowned in bad sound, or kill it and contend with backing track allegations, or are Antony & The Johnsons.
The Crying Light is out via Rough Trade and in the UK and Secretly Canadian in the States.

He looks like a lady because he's transexual. The whole "I am a bird now" album dealt with his issue.
