Bat For Lashes Debuts "Moon And Moon" On The Culture Show

thumbnail icon: Bat For Lashes Debuts "Moon And Moon" On The Culture Show

As Natasha For Lashes told us back in January, her new album's called Two Suns because it's all about duality: "two lovers, two planets, two sides of a personality." Well "Moon And Moon," not to be confused with the Microphones "Moon Moon," satisfies Ms. Khan's advance thematic billing prima facie. The simple, spare piano-and-vocal arrangement she brings to this performance from the BBC's The Culture Show is precisely how it sounds on the album, but for a background vocal effect or two, so if you like this as much as you liked "Glass," you are two steps into loving that LP. The ladies of her backing band join on handclaps, shoo-wops and matching Athenian headdress.

Two Suns, two down:

01 "Glass"
02 "Sleep Alone"
03 "Moon and Moon"
04 "Daniel"
05 "Peace of Mind"
06 "Siren Song"
07 "Pearl's Dream"
08 "Good Love"
09 "Two Planets"
10 "Traveling Woman"
11 "The Big Sleep" (Feat. Scott Walker)

It's out 4/6 via Astralwerks.

Really, why would I ever confuse a Bat for Lashes song with a Microphones song? Oh, because the titles are similar? I get it. CLEVER. If you're gonna bump up your word count, Amrit, don't be dumb.

Well, there was some totally disproportionate hostility.

Weak writing offends me, and should offend everyone. That bit served no purpose within the context of the post, and comes across like a brain fart.

Seriously, read it again and see if it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Paul. Go home. Don't come back.
Natasha: You and Elverum can come on over and get it. Triple Moon remix style.

I'll be here until Amrit quits ruining the internet (and Stereogum in particular).

Cheer up Paul, no need to be so angry. And you should leave Amrit alone because he is hilarious.

Natasha "debuted" this two years ago on a podcast for 'Fur and Gold' as well as at several Bat For Lashes shows over the two years between then and now. Great Scoop here, Stereogum.

This has been on youtube for nearly two years.

But yeah, it's on the album and it sounds like this.

The album is awesome.

Paul, good luck with your one man campaign. All onanists march alone.

You realize that that Culture Show video is from two years ago, right? It's hardly a "debut."
