Bat For Lashes Brings "Daniel" To Letterman

thumbnail icon: Bat For Lashes Brings "Daniel" To Letterman

If it wasn't for last night's Dark Was The Night live show, I'd probably continue working Natasha Khan's stunner at Bowery into every conversation I have this week. Or her similarly gripping show at Music Hall Of Williamsburg Saturday night, where she moved herself (and some nearby) to tears on "Good Love." It takes just a few spins of Two Suns to hear how perfectly the mysticism of Fur & Gold has folded into her new fixation on '80s synth pop, but spinning a record doesn't prepare you for the outfits and the charisma, or the unerring vocals, or the power of her new band (Ash's Charlotte Hatherley, New Young Pony Club's Sarah Jones, and Ben Christophers). The day after Bowery she visited the Ed Sullivan Theater for her US prime-time television debut. (She's done plenty of telly in the UK, Two Suns tunes in fact). The song of choice for Dave was "Daniel." Of course. Paul and Dave enjoyed. Also of course.

Two Suns is out via Astralwerks.

Damn fine. Like Amrit, I am trying to fit Bat for Lashes into every conversation I have. Fantastic album.

I agree. I'm quite taken by the drummer. Such a natural motion when she drums. And then there is the fantastic Charlotte, who is one of the best and finally, you get to Natasha and Ben. Top notch.

I like that Dave is so cemented in success that he can take all the time in the world to tell a useless dumb and not even funny anecdote, just whenever. (he's still great)

Also, this performance was amazing. And yes, Natasha can be a bit flat at times live, but that's only because the vocal portions of her songs can be ridiculously ambitious. This song especially.

Am I the only one who thinks Glass is a much better song than Daniel. I would just rather her perform glass on TV rather than Daniel. Just sayin, still a great performance though.

It seems North America is truly falling in love with Natasha and the crew, as well they might. I've been lucky enough to see her twice on this tour (in the UK) and met her briefly last year. She deserves it, lovely person

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is ridiculously and unquestionably in love with Bat for Lashes' new album. Fur and Gold tripped me over and Two Planets completed the process sending my head over my heels. The only problem is I have recently discovered that I fancy Natasha Khan to a ridiculous degree which brings my critical nous in to doubt. Damn it I've never bothered to have crushes on public figures before, why start now? Anyone not convinced by the album should listen to it on headphones, ooh I love a stereophonic statement.
