Blondie "Good Boys" @ Bumbershoot

Even though we've seen so many of the artists at this weekend's Bumbershoot, part of us wishes we were watching live music in Seattle, and not sitting inside watching Agassi struggle. The New Pornographers, Spoon, Kanye West, Jeremy Enigk, Mates Of State, Zero 7, Vashti Bunyan, Jose Gonzalez ... and that's just TODAY. Yesterday's line-up seemed heavy on the eyeliner emo, but any fest that'll have Steve Miller Band and A Tribe Called Quest on the same stage (not at the same time, though), gets a big Stereogum stamp of approval. In the meantime, thank god for YouTube and the Blondie clip below.

If you've got pics or reports from Bumbershoot, post in the comments!

Bumbershoot is the Best. Yesterday I saw Blondie, Jamie Lidell(The stage caught onfire afterwards), Rogue Wave and Of Montreal(They played "Crazy" for their encore.) I am going back soon to see The New Pornographers, Spoon, Cloud Cult,(Both on private KEXP stage!) Mates of State and Kanye.

I don't understand how at, like, 94 years old Debbie Harry can still be foxy.

Agassi will be sorely missed.

When I read about Agassi's condition after his five set match against Baghdatis, I figured he would lose the next match. He was barely able to walk, he back was so messed up. I thought that maybe the extra day due to the rainout would give him a chance, but he just wasn't himself out there. His shots were still in top form, he just wasn't healthy out there.

BTW, Debbie Harry has earned the right to wear any color she damn well pleases.

Watching modern-day Debbie Harry just makes me sad. I start thinking about Blondie 2.0 and no one should have to think about that.

Debbie Harry will be eternally cool and loved, even if/when she hits 90 years old...classy, foxy, talented woman!

Everyone's covering "Crazy" at Bumbershoot. Someone mentioned Of Montreal above and to the list you can add Mates of State and Kanye.

Mates of State's set was awesome (as always). Jeremy Enigk, Spoon, Kanye were all enjoyable.

Worst scheduling was the Mates' set overlapping with Jose Gonzalez. After the Mates of State I only saw 1 song at the end of Jose's 32 minute set.

I feel like maybe I'm the only one that remembers 'No Exit' and 'Curse of Blondie'...if I am, that would make sense as I'm sure most people immediately erased the memory of both albums from their mind upon hearing them.

Let's face it, Debbie didn't age well and with that neon green she looks like she belongs in a Miami retirement community.

Kanye West was incredible last night and Lupe Fiasco made a suprise appearance. Kanye is great live.

Mates of State played a cover of Crazy last night.

Zero 7 got off to a late start so they barely were able to finish a full set. It was highly comical for me anyway to watch people up at the Tower Records booth trying to get Jose Gonzalez to sign their copy of Simple Things and then him explaining to them that he isn't on that CD. Sia is a goddamn cutie and a riot to talk to.

Now... off to Steve Miller and Feist!

I've got pictures from yesterday's performances by The New Pornographers and Spoon. Dr. Funke made a surprise appearance and showed us his bare ass.

kanye's set was shit. his whole bit of "listen to me do choruses from hits that i produced for other artists" was lame. and what the fuck was up with his huge back sweat? he wasnt moving around THAT much.

and jose was scheduled for about 30-45 more minutes than he did, and was on the complete opposite side of the festival from mates of state, so even if you sprinted from mates to jose, all you heard was the end of what was probably amazing. i wish i had gone to zero 7 and heard him doing crosses then gone and seen kanye. wonder if thats on youtube yet...

Ben Gibbard did a suprise couple of songs during the comedy / music set of Tinkle.

New Pornographers was the highlight of the weekend for sure. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings was number 2.
