Bottled Moz Cuts Off UK Gig After One Song

A couple weeks ago Morrissey collapsed on stage during a performance of "This Charming Man" at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon. A couple days later he cheekily pantomimed the collapse at Albert Hall while doing the same song. Over the weekend Moz made it through "This Charming Man" without incident, but ended his show at the Liverpool Echo Arena with a curt "goodbye" when someone in the crowd hit him in the head with a bottle/cup. It happened during "Black Cloud," a title that sorta sums up what's been floating over Steven Patrick recently. The above image is proof enough of the incident (and deserves a proper caption). We also have it on video.

Morrissey's supposed to be at Nijmegen in Holland tonight. No word if the rowdy fan's effected that plan. Finally, after all of the recent drama, he's also a free agent: According to True To You his contract with Universal's ended and he's currently sans record label. Anyone?

There are always those assholes who have to ruin the show for everybody. I'm betting whoever threw that bottle had a pretty bad night after that.
Score = 1
Dang, he barely made it to the second verse. But looking in the artist's shoes, for a guy who has been performing for decades, he deserves respect. I think anyone else in his position would have done the same thing
Score = 0
David Yow would not have done the same thing. I'm not saying Morrissey is wrong--I think he's right to stop if he wants in that situation, but clearly, it depends on the band. I imagine more bottle throwing at Jesus LIzard shows than I do at Morrissey shows. Now, if it were roses being thrown, that would be different...
Score = 1
You have a point, depends on the crowd. It would almost be expected at a Jesus Lizard show, but I guess it just seems really out of place at a Morrissey show
Score = 0
It's a plastic cup for Christ's sake. It's not like he's got an overall unruly crowd and fears for his life here. Nut up and finish the show for the people. Yeah, it sucks but is it really a reason to
@#$%% up the entire night for tons of people?
Score = -1
... and i was there
thanks for ruining 10,000 peoples evening prick, one woman i met had come all the way from brazil especially for this, why pay £40 to come to see moz and throw a bottle at him. it's beyond belief
Score = 2
Yeah this is just ridiculous. His life was not in danger, it was a PLASTIC bottle. He was clearly not in the mood to perform and was looking for an excuse to stop. What a jerk. He could've easily stopped the song, pointed the guy out and made an example of him and, I'm certain, NOBODY would risk being humiliated like that throughout the rest of the show and he could have done a full concert.
Does anyone know if the concertgoers were given refunds? If they weren't....F*$K MORRISEY. Seriously.
Score = 0
Lets be real for a second: Morrisey isn't gonna take that kind of shit.
Score = 1
It's true; if people don't understand the man's personality and stature in music's hierarchy, then that's their problem. Seriously, anyone suggesting he "nut up" and/or was "looking for an excuse", then they haven't been paying much attention.
But still, it would've been sweet to see Moz Akon a bitch.
Score = 1
He collapsed on stage a few weeks ago...
Obviously, not in great health.
WHY would ANYONE throw ANYTHING at him?
I'm on the Moz's side with this one.
I would of walked off too...
However, if I were Yow, I'd throw the drum set into the crowd...
Score = 1
No, Yow would just continue the song.
Score = -1
For those that say that it was just a plastic bottle... what is the point of throwing anything at all?? Come on!! You have to be such a prick, piece of retarded asshole..
Score = 0
Not saying that it was "right' to throw something at him, but watch any interview and you'll see that Morrissey thinks he's the second coming. It's a rock concert; shit happens. People payed lots of money to see you. Sing your fucking songs.
Score = 3
Agreed.

I'll bet that bottle-chucking scouser got the bleep kicked out of him there.

Don't fuck with a legend.

Anyone who throws stuff at someone who is earnestly trying to entertain the audience is goddamn twat. People who defend any such action and suggest that the performer 'nut up' and go on with the show is also a goddamn twat.
There is a disgusting lack of respect in our generation. The performer deserves absolute respect. Unless of course the performer is being twat, as was the case with that hack Wavves. But that is not the case here. People who interrupt and throw things are assholes. Assholes are goddamn rampant in the music scene, and I'm sick of it. I hope the douche who threw the bottle got his ass beat. I'm not even a Morissey fan, I'm just so OVER our stupid, narcissistic, self-righteous generation.
I would've done the same thing Morrissey did. Oh really? you want throw a bottle at me? Screw you. Goodnight.
Score = -1
But he's punishing the entire (large) paying audience for a single asshole. Kick out the one douche bag and keep playing for the others there to see you.
Score = 3
Yeah, I agree but I'm not surprised Morrissey walked out. That's his personality, it still doesn't make it right though.
Poor Moz though, I feel for him things haven't been looking well for him lately.
Score = 0
In a perfect universe, two things would have happened: (1) Morrissey would have laughed it off and gone on with the show; (2) the cup-thrower would have had the ever loving crap beaten out of him by several thousand people, with the beating filmed and projected onto the big screen.
Score = 0
The guy sings melodramatic songs about death and loneliness and takes himself very seriously, of course he's tempermental, this isn't a sudden revelation. Bad move, guy in the audience.
Kudos to the slug picture though, that is perfect. Somebody should make a youtube playlist of the most infamous _____ - throwing incidents on stage

Really, I'm amazed he wasn't raped, murdered, and then his corpse raped. Because that's where it seemed to be headed.

what the fuck!!! i hope to god the crowd beat the shit outta that stupid idiot, "Oi look at me, i'm gonna be a hit-a-defenseless-aged-crooner-in-the-head-who-just-had-heart-problems-his-last-gig Hero!!" (though i guess at least he's finally got something to talk to David Bowie about.)

It doesn't matter what was thrown, he's not a clown that you pay to dance around and entertain you, show him some respect

The Music Slut published a picture of the man who threw the glass. And it looks like he's in his 50s, should know better!

Poor Moz. His days are getting worse.

Thank goodness someone else has noticed this unfortunate trend. I go to a lot of concerts for free through the radio station I work for, but too often even that isn't enough to get me ignore some obnoxious ass who ends up ruining the show. If they're ruining the show for someone who got in free, imagine how upset someone who paid to get in would be.
What happened to us?

What's with the Brits? First a guy punches a seemingly gentle Leona Lewis at a book signing, now this?
Score = 0
Its like those douche bags at the Carrboro Built to Spill show who started throwing punches and fighting. Why are they even there? Why pay money to go stand in a crowd and start fights? You can do that at any bar in town. Moz did not need this, and I am glad he walked out. Good for him. There should be crowd control, and I bet this will not happen again.
Score = 0
WOW...I'll clear this up real quick.
The guy who threw the bottle is a douchebag. Yes, it was plastic and caused no physical harm but it's obviously a stupid, disrespectful thing to do. No matter who was singing, that kind of move is just unnecessary and annoying.
But Morrisey's kind of a bitch for calling off the rest of the show instead of getting rid of the one douchebag. Saying "that's his personailty" doesn't justify anything...i mean it's no surprise i guess, the guy made a career out of recording the same nancy pants baby shit song over and over.
