Chapter 27 Gets A Trailer, Fat Official Poster

We've followed Jared Leto's weight fluctuations for his role as Lennon-assassin Mark David Chapman in the forthcoming Chapter 27 as closely as we've followed his doucehbaggery (relax you can still use that word when it's Jared Leto) simply because it has to suck knowing the hell he put his body through for a movie nobody will watch -- because this trailer tells the whole movie, but also because it will be terrible.

What amazing acting! And by acting we mean ability to drink microwaved ice cream until he looked like a whale. Here's a poster for you to remember it always.

That face is challenging our redesign's width parameters, but we made it work. Thanks, MTV.

"Leno-assassin"? "Because this trailer tells the whole movie, but also because it will be terrible."? Don't drink and blog, assholes.

this movie has been floating around the internet for like a year now. its really terrible... almost as bad at that colossal run-on sentence that begins this post.

Why don't you give the guy a break for once in your pathetic lives? If all you can think of writing is shit about good actors who take their art seriously just cause they want to break stereotypes and do something different then I feel sorry for you. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

I hope Jared Leto has a heart attack now. That might actually validate the movie. Also, if you rest your cursor over the poster image, it says "FAT." That's what makes this blog better than all the others.

He looks like an awful Philip-Seymour Hoffman.

BUT HOLY FUCKING SHIT
HOW DOES SOMEONE GAIN THAT MUCH WEIGHT AND ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE A FAT PERSON? I THOUGHT WHEN YOU GAINED WEIGHT WHEN YOU WERE SKINNY YOU JUST LOOKED A LITTLE BIG AROUND THE EDGES. JESUS. HE'S SO FAT.

This movie is not for everyone but it's part of our history. It will be studied for future generations. The film in no way puts MDC in a good light. It focusses on his downward spiral into insanity the 3 days prior to the shooting. Films about serial killers and asassins will continue to be made because it is the dark side of humanity that people like to explore.

it's already been done, without hollywood hyperbole, and with a very talented actor. watch "the killing of john lennon" -- not this, please. http://www.thekillingofjohnlennon.com/

"He came to New York to meet John Lennon... and the world changed forever."

First of all, no it didn't. It was a great tragedy, sure, but America still has guns and still has a twisted obsession with celebrity. If it changed the world in any way, it spared us a few shitty hippie songs. (I've always thought the eighties could have used a dozen more songs about some lousy artist and how much her drunk junkie husband loves her.)
Second, anyone who doesn't already know everything there is to know about Chapman and Lennon probably won't give a shit. He was delusional and read Catcher in the Rye? Oh, please tell me more!
Third, doesn't mythologizing Lennon's murder (in what seems to be a pretty tasteless and -- more unforgivable -- DULL way) kind of eschew any lesson that people could have learned from all of it? The filmmakers can condemn the man all they please, but this kind of exploitation fails to condemn the mindset that makes it possible for people to forget that John Lennon was more than a Beatle.

Love,
The Catcher in the Rye

PS Did anyone tell Jared that whispering everything =/= good acting?

Hey "studly roberts", first of all your screen name is wack. Lennon's murder meant more than sparing you a "few hippie songs". And to "Gabriel", wishing anyone would have a heart attack is as cold as they come. Leto is an actor and while you might hate the movie....it's a MOVIE! Do people criticize your work online and wish death on you? Grow up.

Well, jeff -- if that is your real name --, what about the world changed?
A vacancy at the Dakota? Someone else had to write Ringo's songs for him?

If you'd have used your reading comprehension skills, you'd maybe have gilmpsed my point: the movie's tagline supports the notion that a popstar's murder has impact beyond his friends and family. Considering that Chapman's actions were motivated by the very credence which you and "Chapter 27" give to the idea of celebrity, I'd say not fucking much has changed.

His fans were sad, yes. It made the news, sure. But do Americans still build people up as icons just for the sport of tearing them down?

Naaaah, you're right.

Uh...I'm pretty sure more than Lennpn's friends and family were impacted deeply by his death. You know, being the voice of a generation and one of the most beloved songwriters of of all time n all.

to be fair to jared leto, he is not fat and wishing that he should have a heart attack now is childish. regardless of what we think of his ability (i'm not a fan), he's a professional actor, he gained the weight for a movie, and he lost it soon thereafter (http://www.imnotobsessed.com/2006/08/17/jared-leto-has-gout/). i'm tired of people using the word "fat" like it makes him a bad person, worthy of our disgust or hatred.

"the audience’s reactions made it obvious that some people would love it and others would not."

I like how MTV tries to twist it, like it's going to be one of those cult hits misunderstood by the general public. When really it's going to be a shitty movie starring actor/resses that have never been relevant.

I know the automatic response to anything Jared Leto-related is to bag it (and don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of him by any means), but after watching this, I actually didn't think it looked THAT bad. A good movie? Not necessarily. But not entirely the train wreck some people are making it out to be.

I totally agree. It really doesn't look that horrible and it's probably something I'd rent or watch, and who knows maybe i'll hate, maybe i'll love it, maybe i'll never think about it again. but just because you dislike Jared Leto (which I do) or Lindsay Lohan (which I don't) doesn't mean shit about the movie. These people aren't awful actors, no A-listers sure, but who cares. This movie feels like it has already gotten "gigli syndrome" working for it. Gigli was a bad movie, but not as bad as people made it out to be just because of the people involved

I wonder if Jared ledo was assasinated next week, would there be a film made of his killer 20 years from now? Im positive some ahole thats born today will find it interesting and make a film of it only for other aholes to pay and watch it. I haven't seen the movie, and im sure ledo gave a great performance, but the topic is medeocre. I must agree with studly roberts, I am sick of what people consider icons, legends, trend setters and role models in this society. The overwhelming obsession of fans and critics is the reason why actors like jared ledo take extreme measures to suddenly become obese, aswell as a gothic goon in a rock band to become famous. Although I admire his work ethic, he might start a trend where acting isn't enough anymore in this absured entertainment industry. The same fanfare creates talentless individuals famous, such as the paris hiltons, olson twins, etc,."even though Kim Kardassian belongs on this list, I must exclude her" with her fine kick ass body, not to mention the playboy centerfold pics, "Damb". And although he is dead, "FUCK ANDY WARHOL" what the fuck is his talent? exploiting so called friends. As bad as things are with the economy crisis lets stay focused on whats important with current events, why not make a movie on how Fucked up this country is because of the Bush's and Clintons' and oil or Barry Seal and corruption, you know "SHIT THAT MATTERS" like the elections. There's nothing worst than celebrities making songs of peace as "John Lennon" ,meanwhile being poster children to the notion of "CREATIVE JUNKIES" which is ultimately the very reason the moral fibre of america has diminished. LIndsey Lohan, WTF is the nonsense about! She's cute, nice tits on the new york mag, she does a little coke, smokes and drinks, she was a teeny bopper, acted in bad movies, displays her bald eagle in public, and is a step away from leaking a sex tape. What the fuck is the big deal about,? let her be, that is the discription of most of the girls i date, should they be famous!
