All I can say is that I am intrigued with this concept, it looks beautifully shot and has some rad choreography. Those of you who would automatically write this off are probably John Lennon fans who would get mad at you if you pointed out to them that they are John Lennon fans...

There IS a good movie to be made and plotted by Beatles tunes. This might be it. I'm not disgusted by the clips. I'll see it. I didn't see Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, but the clips I've seen of that look much worse than any of these.

Nice undressing sequence. Seriously, that was pretty good.

I agree D! I couldn't help but crack a smile at the brilliantly choreographed strip-part.

I dunno what the hell that just was I just watched, but I do know that if the majority of the film is as weird as that, it'll be a hoot to watch with...I dunno...a crate of whiskey? Certainly it would be foolish, borderlining on criminal, to watch it while NOT under the influence of something.

I mean have the people that defended this scene even WATCHED it? Sure it looks nice. But if i wanted to listen to two hours of shitty beatles covers, i'd go to youtube. Another movie about the free spirit of the 60's? And a musical? What the shit. Didn't Hairspray JUST come out?

seriously. hating for the sake of hating pisses me off just as much as the next guy. but this is absolute TRASH. it has a fucking animated uncle sam coming to life out of the poster to sing i want you ... uh, forget about the she's so heavy part, i guess. it's like they asked themselves, where else have i seen these 3 words together?

Yeah, I had flashbacks to The Wall,too. (yikes!)

Julie Taymor can be a genius but her stuff doesn't always track well on film. Parts of "Frida" were made-for-TV biopic dull and parts were a kitchen sink train wreck (and some parts were really beautiful.)

Mercifully, I've had a lifetime to fill up on the Beatles and don't really need to listen to it anymore.

I HAVE seen the film and it's quite intense - surprising, emotional, creative, and, I must admit, a bit silly at times. I was one of the few that liked Bono's cameo. But overall an engaging and moving experience. Give it a chance...

my problem with it is this: i don't want this movie fucking with the intent of these songs. i know, music is subjective, it means different things to different listeners. i'm with that. but not in a million years did the beatles write "i want you (she's so heavy)" about the overreaching arm of uncle sam, "want"ing to pluck kids off the streets and draft them into an illogical war. yeah they pull this shit off with abba in mama mia and queen in whatever that west end play was called, but fuck, this is just different. i'll be hard pressed not to watch it (rubbernecking the train wreck, as mentioned above), but it'll be out of a morbid curiosity. which i wish i didn't have. damn.

All I meant by my post is that you wouldnt judge the newest CYHSY album based on snippets but rather the collective album.

That being said, the movie scenes are definitely lacking promise and I would stand corrected if it sucked. I just hate how the comments on this site have changed as it has become more popular (yeah that sentenc sounded pretty snobby, I know)

The Rolling Stones just called. Production for THEIR live-action/animated musical movie was canned after a dispute between them and Pixar because Disney wanted the title changed from, "Exiled Beggars with Sticky Fingers on Main St." to the more family friendly, "Ruby's Sugar Babylon", complete with Ruby Tuesday's and Cola-Cola sponsorship.

PS - About the CYHSY comment: I beg to differ. I only listened to one snippet of their last album which happened to be the chorus to "Satan Said Dance", or whatever its called. After that, I knew the rest would suck and didn't bother to listen to anymore "snippets". From what I've read, I think I made the right decision.

I'm sorry, but this movie really does look like rubbish. The clips and/or trailers I've seen have completely turned me off to it. And even in concept, a movie loosely held together through covers of Beatles songs could only be either half-decent or staggeringly awful.

And none of that in-between quality is going to get me to want to sit through this.

I'm staying away.
