CMJ Party School! With Stereogum And Andrew W.K. (Part Two: Backstage At Bowery)

With the help of Andrew, we've already uncovered what partying at CMJ's like for the fest folks parading around the Lower East Side; for the second and final installment of the Stereogum + Andrew W.K. Study of Partying at CMJ, we introduced Andrew to the bands on the stacked Windish Agency Showcase lineup at Bowery last Wednesday, having them carry on everywhere from the Ballroom dressing room to the Delancey Street sidewalk to chat pleasure and, of course, excessive pleasure. Throw on some white (or maybe just some holiday clothing to get the spirit), and remember: "Boner Magic Lives."

Once again, top of the props to our videographer Matt Neatock, to segment producer Jon McMillan. As you can imagine, we had a blast all day hanging with everyone involved, so there's but one more post on the project to come: a "behind the scenes," with some interesting asides and a pretty epic photo set. Coming soon.

The Dan Deacon section should have been 100x longer. Can you post outtakes?

@ d

Yeah, I suppose we can post outtakes at some point. Dan and Andrew were really happy to meet each other, and pretty funny that they both had Santa shirts (WTF). :)

To add a production note:

Dan came in when Andrew was interviewing the Ponytail guys, and he got so excited about Andrew's Santa shirt that he insisted on going downstairs and changing into his Santa sweater. He was like a kid on, well, Christmas. He ended up interviewing Andrew for half the time, mostly about music. He was also very adamant that we use a foghorn for the "silent scream" shot. We'll find a way to post the outtakes if people are interested.

Also, to confirm what people have been saying: WK is one of the friendliest, thoughtful, most energetic people around, and it was pretty awesome to see how excited people (bands and fans) were to sit down with him. If any of you ever have the chance to party with Andrew -- with or without a film crew -- I highly recommend it. He's a good dude.

Man, AWK needs to tour again soon. Best shows I've ever been so. They are so much fun.

I used to respect Andrew but then he decided not to punch dan deacon in the face.

The dude in Deerhunter needs to eat a cheeseburger (not that piece of bread he's munching on) and get over himself. It looks like he's dying.

Pass on the "looks like he's dying" (the man's got a DISEEEEEEASE, MAN!!), but yeah, the guy from Deerhunter is a douche+ in that scene (and kind of in general, if the blogosphere as taught me correctly).
