CMJ Party School! With Stereogum And Andrew W.K. (Part One: The Streets Of The L.E.S.)

CMJ: The chance to have your eardrums bludgeoned by a thousand bands. Of course we're trying to catch as many acts as possible for you ... but the seedy party underbelly of the fest isn't confined just to the rock clubs. So we invited Andrew W.K. for a walk through the Lower East Side to school ourselves on how to attain a consummate state of debauchery -- bumping into party planners, dudes with facial hair, Andrew fans young and old, and some of our favorite artists like Bon Iver, Land Of Talk, and No Age. For those who didn't get to join us in NYC for this year's indie extravaganza -- and for those just looking to party a little bit harder while boozing and schmoozing this weekend -- we present Andrew's tutorial for maximum CMJ partytude.

Top of the props to our videographer Matt Neatock and to segment producer (and resident videophile) Jon McMillan. Stay tuned for Part Two of the W.K. video exposé featuring Andrew's party tip tradeoffs with White Williams, Dan Deacon, and Bradford Cox.

Party til you puke!
I love that Andrew meets the No Age guys. They killed it at Bowery. Best performance of the night.

He's got personality, something that counts in rock and roll and our media culture. Best of luck to him.
