Conor Oberst Debuts New Tunes In Brazil

thubmnail icon: Conor Oberst Debuts New Tunes In Brazil

Conor Oberst's self-titled LP is scheduled for release 8/5, but it was available on CD in Brazil last week. At least that's what the folky told his audience after spotting a copy at Studio SP in Sao Paulo on the opening night of his current tour. (It leaked to torrent sites over the weekend.) Backed by his Mystic Valley Band, Conor performed a handful of new songs including "Eagle On A Pole" and "Get-Well-Cards." We've got YouTube of those, along with an MP3 from the album, after the jump.

Mr. Oberst decided that more people wanted to hear him in Croatia and Czech Republic than in the South East of America. That's very logical.

I listen to his new stuff and more recent Bright Eyes and the guys talent is pretty clear in many songs. But then I watch videos like this and see he's really nothing but an irritating little manboy.

If for once people put aside the idea of conor as some sort of emo weed, they would maybe see that he's probably one of the most progressive/fearless musicians around. And just fairly good at what he does. Man, like Dylan isnt a cranky bitch and the guy from Le Savy Fav isn't a fat dickhead.

Horse Feathers - "Father"

Portland songwriter Justin Ringle's evocative vocal twang and sharp lyricism are at the center of Horse Feathers' bedroom Americana. The band's second album House With No Home, which follows 2006's Words Are Dead, finds Ringle's vision fleshed out by multi-instrumentalist/composer...
