Courtney Love Plays Birthday Gig, Drunkenly Talks NME's Ear Off

C. Love's got a new record coming out -- some of which actually sounds pretty good -- but it's her time offstage rather than on that keeps her in the limelight. She's got talent, all; when it comes to babbling/typing incoherently while intoxicated, she's a bona fide star. And here's one more for the memory files: Courtney played a surprise gig on her birthday last night in west London's "Bush Hall," after which NME caught up with her backstage for this heart-to-heart. That's Noel from the Mighty Boosh.

Lookin' good, Court. Oh right, but before all this there was that surprise birthday-gig and all. Take the jump for actual live footage from the show, including new cut "Sunset Marquis," and the full Love setlist.

SETLIST (via NME)
01 "Samantha"
02 "Malibu"
03 "Stand Up Motherfucker"
04 "Sunset Marquis"
05 "Miss World"
06 "Nobody's Daughter"
07 "Pacific Coast Highway"
08 "Doll Parts"
09 "Letter To God"
10 "How Dirty Girls Get Clean"
11 "Celebrity Skin"
12 "Never Go Hungry Again"
13 "For Once In Your Life"
14 "Loserdust"
15 "Northern Star"

shit.
if i was there and had my first chance to meet courtney love and that approached me i know i'd just think 'shit! it really looks like this!'
damn. i love you, courtney, but that wasn't the best choice of camera time. she needs a (and some) concealer.
...how you doin'?
:]

Aw, she seems sweet and happy - good for her. I'm looking forward to hearing the new record.

She kept drifting back and forth between looking scarily, creepily thin and actually looking kinda good. At least she was able to lose that weight that seemed to be building up over time. She looks radically different though, and that's more than a little weird.

guess i'm in the minority here, i hate courtney love's music, think she is hideous, and can't imagine why noel fielding would want to get that close to that thing??!! oh, and she is an unfit mother as well. i hate child abusers.

What happened to her face? Yikes. If someone is going to get all that work done why would they try to look like Ian Brown?

So much for being sober.

Wow are those crowns obvious.

Buy a hair brush and take a shower, grunge is over.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...
